#6 Read. Pray. Share. #ForTheLord

This post marks the sixth #forthelord posts, forming a simple discipline of praying, reading scripture and sharing what was learned online. There are three steps:

  • Pray - Prayer is our talking to the Lord.
  • Read - We read to hear Him.
  • Share - Use the #forthelord tag on your posts or videos in Social media.

Pray and Seek

Creator of Heaven and Earth
The Most High God of all gods
The Father of our Master
And Our Father in the Heavens
You are Majestic in Strength
And Mighty in Power
You are the sustainer of all things
You bind the world together in Your wisdom
We repent of our sins
Our shortcomings in the flesh
We rejoice in Your Spirit
Your Righteousness which is perfect
Both we and our fathers before us
Have committed wrongs and offences against You
But in your Mercy and Your Kindness
You have offered a way of Salvation
Just as the Sons of Israel were released from Egypt
We too have been released from slavery
We are no longer bound to sin
Because we are free from the law of sin
And now have taken on the Law of Messiah
The ancient path that has been from the beginning
May we walk this path of righteousness
That we may do what is pleasing in Your sight.
Not by our own understanding
But by Your perfect word.
AMEN.

Read and Listen

I'm continuing in Job and now it's Elihu's turn to speak. He's the youngest, so he spoke last... and he's angry at Job and his friends. Why is he angry? Because it appears that Job accounts himself as righteous (in his own eyes) and he's angry at his friends for not properly answering Job's questions.

In his introduction, he says something interesting to me:

Let me not, I pray you, accept any man's person,
Neither let me give flattering titles unto man.

Then he continues:

For I know not to give flattering titles;
In so doing my Maker would soon take me away.

It reminds me of what the Master said:

"Be not ye called Rabbi: for one is your Rabbi, even the Anointed, and all ye are brethren" Matthew 23:8

It's almost exactly what Elihu was saying - that nobody should accept the "persona" of a person, flattering titles or character acting, but rather make a judgment based on the heart, rather than the outward appearance or the accolade of men, or titles.

But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart. Samuel 16:7

When Samuel was looking for the next King of Israel, David had only a few lowly titles: "son of Jessie" and "shepherd". If Samuel was basing his decision on titles or persona, he would have said David was not qualified to be king - but yet God saw David as "a man after his own heart" 1 Samuel 13:14

Samuel was doing what Elihu said: he did not accept David's persona, nor his titles, but accepted the word of the Lord who looks to the heart. If Samuel had given David a "flattering title" who knows, maybe Samuel would have been soon taken away!

The former king (Saul) enjoyed his "flattering title" and was distressed when the people said:

Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands. 1 Samuel 18:7

David did not care about his flattering title, but Saul was very jealous of this. Saul wanted his name in lights ahead of his, saying:

"They have ascribed tens of thousands to David,” he said, “but only thousands to me. What more can he have but the kingdom?" 1 Samuel 18:7

Was David worthy of the kingdom because of his title? No, David was worthy of the kingdom because God anointed David since Saul was unworthy, and David was a man after God's heart.

When we call Yeshua "The Anointed" or "The Messiah" or "The Christ", we are not giving a Him flattering title - we are ascribing the anointing of God upon His beloved Son. Yeshua, a man seeking the will of His Father above all else, a man after God's heart, like His father David.

Teach Your Children Liberty from Sin

We encourage parents to teach their children principles of Godliness, beginning with the Word and an understanding who God is and what His Son has done to form a relationship with us.

No one can lay a foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, or straw, his workmanship will be evident, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will prove the quality of each man’s work. 1 Corinthians 3:11-13

Teach Your children Liberty from Tyranny

Second to this is the principle of self-determination and freedom, lest we loose the ability to teach our children the first principle in future generations.

Our children read the Tuttle Twin books, specifically to learn libertarian principles, which most people learn later in life. These books are useful for our family, and yours, to teach children concepts that seem complicated, but are made simple in these books. I am an affiliate for Libertas Publishing, your purchase will help our family grow financially.

Bank Bailout Special!

It's happening, folks. The banks are going under! To educate our children about what is going on, there is a "Bank Bailout Book Bonanza" going on with the Tuttle Twins! Use coupon code FORTY for 40% off your purchase! Check out the books here.
