I Didn’t know How To Ride A Bike At 15.

Three years ago, my Brother, and I took a trip to My mom's Village to Ini Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State in Nigeria. One day, we went to visit the Ikot Ubeng. and we took a car as far as we could go. But we came to a certain point, where we had no option than to ride on a bicycle to the site itself or hop on the back of someone else's in order to get there. Because I didn't know how to ride a bicycle, we had to catch a lift. I was so disappointed in myself and also i was challenge seeing other women and men including the youths just get on bicycle and go. This hadn’t been the first time I felt that way, either.

As long as I can recap, I’ve always wished I could ride a bicycle. I grew up in an area in Africa, where the average person couldn't afford money to buy one for their kids. That was the case with my parents, so I couldn't learned because of this.
Later when i came back to my home, i was challenged, then I said to myself, I think i should learn how to ride a bike. That way, I could get places faster and spend less time outside. So, I ordered a Schwinn and planned to have my Brother Armstrong teach me how to ride it by practicing in the grass at my primary school near our where we were staying.
When the bicycle i ordered arrived, I had doubts immediately. I spent the first few days staring at it, wondering what I’d been thinking. I kept saying things to myself like, This bike is too high and Why would i even think i could ride it? I was really intimidated. Luckily, My Brother knows how much I can overthink things. He sat me down and reminded me that I already knew how to pedal that I’d been doing it on my exercise bike in the house for years.
I remember how nerve-racking the walk to the park was that day. As I wheeled my new bicycle down the sidewalk, I tried not to let my emotions get the best of me. But I was really scared. When my Brother and I got to an open area, he reminded me that it was just like my exercise bike at home. I made a first attempt to ride and it was a total fail. The second wasn’t great either. The third time, my brother told me to keep my balance for 30 seconds which i did and it was such a rush! I was shocked and overjoyed. I’d really thought that it was going take at least a month to figure out. But once I started peddling, I didn’t want to stop.
I’m a personal trainer, and I see so many people out there who are afraid to start working out or they think it’s too late to start. I didn’t let the fear of not knowing how to do something or the fear of failure stop me from pursuing my goals. And they got to see that. This is how i learned how to ride a bicycle.
