Market Friday - finding a market by chance in Florence, Italy

While wandering Florence this morning we stumbled across a lovely market, purely by chance ! It had three main sections selling antiques, clothes and food.

We loved wandering around it, mainly just to see what it would have, that we dont find back in the UK !

We really liked the antiques section.

We've been looking for new art-deco lights for our living room, and this market had lots of options, and we even found a pair that we really liked, but we could not figure out how to get them back to Scotland in one piece !

And for some reason, I really loved the orange bear above !!!

And the stall above also had some nice art-deco lamps, but again, we'd not be able to take them back easily.

This section contained a room for each antique seller.

And there was maybe around 20 different vendors - it was lovely walking around it !

There was also quite a large clothes section, but with backpacks already full, that wasnt really an option for us.

The food section was quite large. We dont have a market like this near where we live, and we were saying that if we did we'd get all of our veg and fruit from it.

Adn above you can see the meat section, with all the hams, etc hanging up - its Italy after all, they liked a good dried ham !

We'll we really enjoyed our wander through the market. I normally dont post to market friday because I'm always at work on a Friday and dont get the chance to go to one, so this seemed like a great opportunity to join in on the #marketfriday by @dswigle fun !

And 4 hours later, I was still trying to work out ways to get those lights we saw home !

I was in Italy and bought some Capodimonte and the blown glass in Murano. (I also bought chandeliers in Prague) I mailed them back. Everything got there without a hitch. No lie.

I hope you can go back. And fifteen years later, I am still enjoying them. I love those antique malls! and the markets. Can we just move there?? I don't market on Fridays, BTW. I take the pictures when I go and most times schedule my post for Friday. :)

I think it is important that you know how much I appreciate the time and effort put into posts. Thank you for your participating in #MarketFriday! I enjoy learning about your world and how it is to live in it. I find it interesting to compare standards, but, more than standards, by how we find the quality of our life with different indicators that the world does. It is not always about the wealth in money, but includes many other things including being as healthy as possible, being educated, but, not necessarily in school. I feel like a person is educated if they aquire knowledge and use it for the better good and happiness of the society they are living in. It is with great pleasure that I read through this and all of the posts, with these thoughts in mind.

I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to get to know you and your piece of the world just a little bit better. I have learned so much about the different cultures of the world, I especially love the small things in life and make a point to give them notice. Life has been interesting for me this week, and I hope your week has found you happy and healthy, as we all look to prosper in our way of life.

I have learned so much about all of you and it has been an amazing experience. I can only hope that learning about each other can help us work together for a peaceful world. Please take the time to read a couple #MarketFriday posts and leave a genuine comment behind. It is important to interact within the community, allowing for others to bond with each other. The fun is in getting to know people and making a positive contribution to community life. I am pretty sure that is why I joined Hive. All this fun and money too. What if not to love?

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a movie, an auction, or even a museum. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or product.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? Was it expensive? Did it go up or down? A scroll of pictures with few words doesn't usually work.
  3. Post the pictures. Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post, it is too difficult to guess about some.
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post (#hive-196308) This is not required but appreciated.
PLEASE Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it!!
  5. Following me and reblogging the post would be appreciated, but not a rule, more vision for more views on the #MarketFriday posts!
    7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!

Many thanks - we also went out to Murano and were looking at the chandeliers too - they looked great, but we thought the postage price would kill us ! However, we know of a cool junk/antique shop here in Edinburgh that usually has some fantastic art-deco and antique light fittings - so I think we will be hitting that place quite soon !
