"The people will find a way to organize themselves freely"
Father Alejandro Moreno (1934-2019)

Continuing with the cultural and related themes, it is necessary for me to present in this brief analysis of what we call "popular culture" a sociologist who contributed much to this issue, such as Father Alejandro Moreno and his analysis of Venezuelan popular culture .

Deceased on December 25, 2019, sociologist and researcher, who was born in Toledo Spain but nationalized Venezuelan and with studies carried out at the Andrés Bello Catholic University, and a doctorate in Social Sciences at the Central University of Venezuela. In addition to the above, he was the founder of the Center for Popular Research and, on the other hand, a pastoral agent of the Don Bosco Congregation.

Alejandro Moreno defined what “POPULAR EPISTEME” is, as the root of the knowledge of the people, of the common, and not that self-knowledge through the interaction of other people's worlds, but rather of one's own. That search for one's own identity which is located at the origin, at the root, in the town, an example of this are traditions, customs; knowledge that is ingrained in the psyche of the people.
This knowledge can be historical, brought to our present by that daily living that allows the feedback of such knowledge. This constant living and reliving of knowledge is what allows Venezuelans to adjust their reality to their needs. In this sense, it would be worthwhile to ask ourselves if in this back and forth of knowledge we could take into account the delinquents or "malandros" that Alejandro Moreno defined as a violent delinquent of popular origin, as a source of cultural teaching. If we consider that what we call culture refers to a way of living where custom intervenes as part of this constant reaffirmation of knowledge that is reflected in this daily back-and-forth, we could say in such a case that yes, they are, which is very ironic.

The "thugs" are part of that people invaded by foreign knowledge that, having grown up under that domination, seek to create their own culture from their reality, which is in opposition to the imposed reality, in that dynamic they infect others with their perceptions about the way in which life should be lived and seen.
To understand this perception of what culture is and how it is transmitted, accepted and practiced by a certain community, society or the like, it is necessary to be clear about certain definitions of this sociologist, which are clarified below:

Popular episteme: It is the knowledge that is born in the psyche of the marginalized and oppressed people, which can be historical and if so, the knowledge is historical, an example of this are the traditions and customs which are part of a world of life.

Popular life world: Inspired by Descartes, it is the world of creations in which an individual develops. It can be an internal or external world from where it is to be thinking and sensitive.

Practice: Way of life of a people. It occurs through interrelationships, daily living.
It is a human living in constant human relationship.
The popular Venezuelan man is defined as homo "convivales" or "convivalis", possessor of that core knowledge (imprint matrix) that permeates his being and that of everyone around him.

This article has exposed another way of seeing culture more specifically "popular culture" from the perspective of Dr. Alejandro Moreno and that helps us to analyze the reality that we currently live from our communities.
