Another Era : A Freewrite

We are all getting a little tired of the cold and snow. It’s been here for weeks now. And it seems like it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. The walk to the post office was a bit slow and exhausting. The snow is slowly disappearing, but the temperature at night is still quite low. I also wrote a bit in my journal. And now, I am reading about the history of the Byzantine Empire. Was awake early and got up around 7.30. Went to the post office with a last batch of gifts for delivery. Then walked a bit around town, but was not really in the mood. It’s still very cold at night, temperatures between -20 and -25°C. The snow is slowly disappearing from the streets, but it will be some time before there is no more snow on the ground. I had a bit of trouble sleeping last night, and was up around 4am. So I got up and read some more of my book before heading to the kitchen for coffee. Then I sat on the couch with my computer and wrote this post. I’ve been thinking of some of the things I have not yet seen in Novosibirsk. One is a concert hall, which would be nice to see if it was open today. Another is an art museum, where there are supposed to be some good collections of Russian avant-garde painting and sculpture. I also want to visit an Orthodox church (there are several within walking distance), and perhaps one or two other churches as well.
