Six years ago, gasoline price here in Saudi Arabia was about $0.11 per liter compared to $0.6 now. There were No taxes in all the products. If you’re a Filipino and you knew someone working here before, if that someone loves electronic gadgets, trust me he would not miss every latest model of an iPhon, Android, Laptop, DSLR, Play Stations, X-Box, smart watches and etc.

Until January 2018 they introduced 5% VAT on all goods and services. Two years later, covid19 pandemic overwhelmed the whole world, economic crisis impacted the business industries. To counter these economic issues, in July 2020 the 5% VAT they increased it to 15%.

All good and services the prices were getting higher and higher. Millions of expats were decided to went back home specially those who live with families here as the cost of living is becoming non-practical at all.

Hundreds of businesses were closed but these Gold Shops are still standing strong despite of the financial crisis caused by the pandemic.
