Growing slowly: every little helps!
August last year I registered my account on Hive. I was charmed by the idea of sharing your interest with others and getting paid for it too.
Soon I found out there were many more ways to earn on the Hive platform and not only Hive tokens, but also other tokens on this blockchain and other blockchains as well.
Slowly but steadily the amount of tokens is growing and the value of my holdings even more.
I want to share some of the things I’ve learnt in my past 6 months.
Creating blogs
I remember how it amazed me that my first blog received 123 votes and 2.76 Hive. That gave me an incentive to continue with it. Not all the blogs were that successful, but along the way I improved my writing skills and gained followers that liked my content.

I started out with photography posts, but later on I started blogging about my other interests too. That’s how I started using the Leofinance interface in November.
One of the most important things with blogging is consistency! Just keep on creating quality content and you will be rewarded for that.
Curation
Understanding curation on the Hive platform was quite a thing and I don’t think I understand it completely yet.
But the most important is to use your voting power of 10 times a 100% vote to receive some rewards.
So I cast my votes daily.
It isn’t much, but as my account value is growing, so is the reward for my votes.
One of the things I recently learnt about was the vote multiplier. With the vote multiplier you can set a multiplier for votes in different communities.
This way I can now vote 10 times on Leofinance without it having a huge effect on the Hive power I use on PeakD.
https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@friendlymoose/stop-losing-voting-power
By setting a 10x multiplier for Leofinance it still gives a 100% vote (which is 0.126 at the moment), but on Hive it only takes a 1% voting power.
This way I can cast more votes with different tokens
Contests
There are quite some contests on Hive in which you can win tokens or other stuff.
As I started out on the photography-related communities I also competed in some of the photography contests.
I actually won some Hive in a contest of the Feathered Friends community with my Flamingo picture.
One of the daily contests I join is the “Guess the score” game of @leedsunited.
You just have to guess the score and the first goal scorer. There is a jackpot that builds up.
I’ve won quite some SPORTS tokens in this contest already.
Some other examples are the daily Splinterlands card giveaways.
Just join in and you might get lucky and receive a free card:

And there is much more. I always check the #contests to see if there is something I can join

Sometimes there are some nice gems like the recent quiz of @onealfa where he gave away 44 Leo (~$20) to the person who could solve his riddle. I gave it a try, but failed miserably, but that won’t hold me back next time.

Gaming
There are quite a lot of games on the Hive blockchain and other blockchains with which you can earn some extra money.
Some of them pay out in tokens, in some you can win NFT’s or even both.
You can keep the NFT’s to play with or you can sell them on a market for a nice profit.
Here are some highligts of the games I play.
Cryptobrewmaster
Brewing beer and earning CBM tokens. It wasn’t really profitable lately, but recently they have a prize pool of 840 Hive for the weekly events.

dCity
More an investment than a game. You build a city that generates income in SIM. I mainly use the income to buy new cards so the city will continue growing and generate even more income. Because I don’t want to invest a lot in this game the city grows slowly, but that’s fine with me for now.
I receive around 800 SIM a day which is $0.42 at the moment. Not bad for doing nothing.
Alien Worlds
This is a new game I’m playing. It’s a mining game where you can mine TLM. There’s also a chance to mine NFT’s. You can use the cards in the game or you can sell them in the market.
Yesterday I was quite lucky to mine a rare card that sells for over $10 on the market place.
Sorare
The last game I want to mention is Sorare. Sorare is a fantasy football game. I've been playing this game for a couple of weeks now.
If you invest in this game you can compete in leagues where you can win nice amounts of prize money.
I don't want to invest yet, so I play with my free cards for now.

Noise.cash
Noise cash is a micro blogging platform that gives their users free Bitcoin Cash to give away.
In three weeks I managed to get over 200 followers and $20 worth of BCH.
Not bad for a couple of short posts a day!

Small steps...
All these small steps contribute to a larger whole. But what did it get for all my efforts in the past six months?
I’ll share some of my figures with you.
I started this journey with 0 Hive and have over 1500 Hive now.
I invested some in Leo when I started, but managed to grow from 1000 to 1500 Leo from the start of November.
These two tokens represent a value of around $900 at the moment.
My city in dCity is valued at ~191k SIM which is over $100 dollar.
And then I also have some small amounts of other tokens and NFT's in the other games.

I've been doing it the slow organic way with a little post here and there.
All the other opportunities than come with the platform are great - sometimes the little pennies start to add up.
we are moving to a new place this weekend and i am hoping after we get settled i can try to be more active.

That's the idea. Slowly grab a penny here and there :)
That's awesome progress for starting from zero!
Congrats!
Did you invest a lot of time to achieve this?
I did invest some time. Especially the blogs en getting to know the games cost time. But I used to waste time on tablet games which didn't get me any money at all, so times better spend now :)
Well yes that is very true i think!
I hope I can achieve similiar results to yours!
Hello, @friendlymoose
