Six to the Merseyside club where FC Porto can call themselves the most decorated Portuguese club with two pieces. Historically, it is a showdown seen in recent years in the Champions League knock-out matches. Liverpool won a total of 5-0 in the 2016-2017 season in the quarterfinals, while the following year they won 6-1 in the quarterfinals, where "The Reds" went all the way, winning the sixth CL title.

Both teams have each started their respective tournaments as well as leagues well. Last season's number two in Liga Nos started this year's Champions League adventure, playing 0-0 at Wanda Metropolitano against the Spanish champions from Atletico Madrid. In the domestic tournament, one is undefeated after seven matches where five of them have ended in a victory.

In the Premier League, Liverpool are the only team undefeated which makes them number one. The team from Merseyside comes on the back foot of a wild 3-3 match against Thomas Frank's promoters from Brentford. Here were goal scorers Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones. Liverpool who are notoriously known for creating wild European nights, the prophecy was true in this case as they won 3-2 in their Champions League clash against AC Milan after falling behind at the break.
