Porto picked up an impressive point when they got a draw from the showdown against Atlético Madrid. Today they had to look up to Liverpool, who started the tournament with a great victory over AC Milan, and they were also the first team on the scoreboard.

Curtis Jones dribbled his way into the box on the left, and then he tried with an finish towards the long corner. It took care of the home side's goalkeeper, Diogo Costa, but he boxed the ball straight at Zaidu Sanusi, who could not control the ball, and then Mohamed Salah was able to poke the ball into goal for 1-0.

Porto were well into the start of the match, but after the goal Liverpool began to put themselves on the line. A few minutes before the break, it was close to becoming 2-0 after a clever free-kick combination, but Costa delivered a nice save on Jordan Henderson's attempt.

Just a minute later, however, the visitors still took the lead with 2-0. James Milner hit a flat post close to goal, and who should take care of it, the Porto players could not quite agree on. That meant Sadio Mane could roll the ball in at the back post.

2-0 to the guests from England at the break.

A few minutes into the second half, Diogo Jota should have closed the showdown when he intercepted a bad pass, but Costa was quickly out of his line and got averted before Jota could manage to finish.

However, it was 3-0 shortly after, and again the goal scorer was Salah. Jones captured the ball while Porto was pushing the team forward, and then he played the Egyptian completely free. Alone with the goalkeeper, he did not fail and he put the ball safely under Costa in the goal.

However, the home team still played, and after a little over an hour, they should get their first big chance. Vitinha got the ball in the box after a cutback pass, but he finished right on Alisson. However, the home team came on the scoreboard with a quarter again.

Fabio Vieira hit a razor-sharp post into the Liverpool box, and here Mehdi Terami fought his way ahead of Joe Gomez and headed the ball into the net for 3-1.

However, the small tension that arose with the reduction quickly disappeared again. The home keeper was stunned 28 minutes into the match when he misjudged the free kick by Roberto Firmino and dived in the wrong direction. Firmino came on the board again a few minutes later when a leveled finish ended in the feet of him inside the box. Completely free and alone with Costa, he safely kicked the ball into the net for 5-1, which was also the result of the match.

Liverpool therefore top Group B before Atlético Madrid awaits in the next two clashes. Porto are relegated to last place and have AC Milan in their next two matches.
