FC Barcelona management is actively enticing the club icon, Xavi, to take over as head coach of the club as Ronald Koeman is not delivering satisfactory results.

According to the media 90min, the club president, Joan Laporta, is fighting a good fight to convince 41-year-old Xavi to change the head coach position in Qatari Al-Sadd with a seat in his mother club, where Xavi played most of his career. Laporta has appointed Xavi to take over the post, but has to hold on to Koeman until an agreement is in place.

Negotiations with Xavi are still ongoing and there are no other candidates who want to sign with FC Barcelona, so the club has to hold on to Koeman a bit more. Therefore, no decision regarding Koeman will be made until there is a clear and permanent agreement with a replacement.

Xavi has played almost his entire career at FC Barcelona, where since his early academy start as a 15-year-old he has played a total of 767 matches for the Catalans, where he scored 85 goals and added up to 185 of those.

Xavi ended his career in Qatari Al-Sadd, where he played from 2015 - 2019 and then took over the head coach position at the club in continuation of his career stop. Xavi led Al-Sadd to his 15th championship and 17th trophy trophy last year.
