A Witch in my Garden: How about an Arachnid Dinner? [EN] // Una Bruja en mi Jardín: ¿Qué tal una Cena Arácnida? [ES]

Last night while we were talking in the garden, my mother turned to the place where the water tank is and immediately said to me You have to see this! The truth is that I didn't imagine this image would be, the truth is that finding the two animals that I am most disgusted by, together and in this way, was quite amazing because although it is true that it is said that spiders can eat cockroaches, the truth is that I had never imagined that I would witness such an act. I must admit that I took about 30 photos and only about 4 came out decent because my hand was shaking thinking that at some point the spider would jump on me.

But this Giant Crab Spider or Heteropoda venatoria, at no time moved, it was simply concentrated devouring its victim, while the cockroach only moved its antennae and legs, the truth is that it must be quite painful for it because within everything is a living being, and being sincere I do not know where to get the courage to take the picture from so close, now that I see it here I think about that hahaha, all we are able to endure for a photograph hahaha.

This crab spider according to what I was able to investigate was a female, due to the colors, since the males are darker, and it has black in its placement, it was approximately 8 to 10 centimeters in size, so catching this cockroach I don't think it was difficult for it. Crab spiders are hunters, they don't weave webs to catch prey unlike garden weavers, they rather stalk them, and thanks to their speed they can catch their victims, it is not a poisonous species, but due to their speed it is very easy for them to surprise us when we least expect it, and the truth is that the only time I have seen one of these so calm and I have been able to take a picture of them has been this one.

They can be found in tropical climates, so it's likely that if where you live you can find them, here I can see them all year round, and the truth is that as much as I avoid them I think they are after me. But this one became my hero for eating the cockroach, although now that I think about it, I think I should have finished with both of them, they were two birds with one stone, I think I will never find that promotion again in my life.

After I finally managed to pass all your animated gifs, let me comment your post.

These pictures are really great and you captured an amazing moment!

... two animals that I am most disgusted by ...

Well, the name of my community is "Fascinating Insects" so you shouldn't be surprised that I have a different opinion concerning these great and unique creatures. :)

... my hand was shaking thinking that at some point the spider would jump on me. But this Giant Crab Spider or Heteropoda venatoria, at no time moved, it was simply concentrated devouring its victim ...

I also wouldn't jump on anybody while eating, so why should the spider do that? :)

The fact that I don't like them doesn't mean they aren't fascinating, the truth is that I have a lot of respect for spiders and whenever I can photograph them and learn from them I do, with cockroaches let's not say it's the same thing but I can't help but think how amazing they are and how easily they survive almost anything because even a blow doesn't always kill them!
