Quote of the Day

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. - John Lennon

I have started this competition in the hope that this will prove to be a fun and interesting way to get people to interact and engage with each other here on #proofofbrain

It could be about anything really. Ranging from a memorable quote to a story or maybe just a random question about life itself. Literally any subject is open for discussion but I will try and not let it get too weird !

You are also welcome to talk about any other subject you like.

To enter the competition you simply have to make any type of comment on this post and I will do a daily random draw for 3 lucky winners.

You are not required to Upvote, Re-Blog or Follow but it would be nice.

RANDOM.ORG offers true random numbers to anyone on the Internet. The randomness comes from atmospheric noise, which for many purposes is better than the pseudo-random number algorithms typically used in computer programs

Wow I'm glad to see my name as one of the winners once more, congrats to @riandeuk @houseofdavid and myself, more wins to us.

For the random question of the day - If Suffering is an important part of life?

I'll say a big YES, it is a very important part of the human life. Well, my reason is simple.

I've heard a sentence before saying "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger" that's what suffering can do to most people going through it.

We face sufferings in different aspects of life, it could be in academics, marriage, place of work or even from kids to parents and ice versa.. Suffering can be in any form, but they happen to make a point or make someone stronger.

I'm not saying suffering is good, but it is nature that some people also go through it because of their past sins or even because they choose that path themselves.

That's all I can say but I'll appreciate a feedback if I'm getting anything wrong here.

Thanks for this initiative, it's thought provoking and really interesting.

Congrats to you too! Always happy to be in the list every now and again.

As for the thought of the day. I agree wholeheartedly. It's not even remotely desirable to erase suffering from existence.

While we can make an effort to minimise any extreme forms of suffering there are no highs without lows.

Suffering comes in many forms and we can only control so much..

This is a very good one and I must say a big congratulations to you mate's ,you are really done well enough to be on that list and for @houseofdavid ,it is a very good one for you, that list show the effect of luck as far as this contest is concern.

Another thing I want to look at is how do we manage time,i.might not be able to really explain that much but I will give little why time is essential and moment lost or mismanaged can't be recover again, that is why our time should.be used judiciously so that it can bring out a better end results,at a point in life I see time as opportunity, cause it cause with a choice to take and leave us with the freedom of how to use it and what to use it on,so generally I want to say time is another word for opportunity, and it now depends on how you see and you it

I think we should all be the same as Jhon Lennon wanted to be: Happy.
Suffering is part of life. It is a kind of emotion that helps us to grow and to form our character. Ideally we should always be happy or content, but somehow when we suffer we value happiness and show that we care about the people or things around us. No one wants physical or emotional suffering, or of whatever nature, no one seeks it, but it is inevitable at any time because it is part of the experiences we will live and from which we must learn.

I have actually just read a book that touched on suffering as being one of the fundamental human aspects. It was the Five Invitations: discovering what death can teach us about living fully by Frank Ostaseski. Though some of the book is a bit blabla, it has something interesting to say about suffering which I agree with. Basically all humans suffer: sometimes during our lives when we loose something important to us, struggle with life. But everyone also physically suffers upon dying. Leaving this body of ours can be quite a laborious thing as he describes (he is a palliative care giver). But the use of suffering, though it does not always seem clear at the time, is a very human experience: it makes us realize that our time is fleeting in this life. Besides that human suffering also makes us connected to that life. We suffer because we want to be healthy and happy, a universal aspect of all humans. Would we like to not suffer when it happens to us? Yes! But would the human experience be the same and be as valuable without it? I think not.
Very interesting topic this indeed! Thanks a lot for provoking thought!

Is suffering an important part of being human?

Yeah suffering actually is. It necessary ill in our sojourn here on earth.

Whatever situation we encounter suffering, we are to see it has life's test and walk through it as that's the only way around it. While some are afraid of it, we should embrace it as it shapes us for the future ahead.

Like Khalil Gibran once said;

Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls; the most massive characters are seared with scars.

Without suffering we may never attain to our best potentials.

Is suffering an important part of being human

Let me start by saying am happy to be on that list again and it as serve as away of motivation for me,as regards your question, suffering on the other hand is actually a part of life,to me I will love to link this with the challenges that we face ,the difficulties that comes our way as far as life is concern ,this things happen to that we can be strong and be determined in getting the best out of ourselves,I must say people tend to value what they suffered for so much and handle it with care, cause they know what it takes them to get or achieved those things,so as far as life is concern those challenges or trial time that comes our way is a perfect way of building the inner man in us,one of my mum's statement is what you don't suffered for woont last in your hand.
Thanks
