Here We Go Again…….My Actifit Report Card: December 10 2025
Lovely deer seeking refuge in our backyard! Nice!😊
And so it begins! We’ve had a series of what they call ‘atmospheric rivers’ move through our area that’s dumped 8-10” of rain thus far. It’s a bit over the top as far as rainfall goes. That soil is saturated. The runoff is ridiculous and the rivers and streams just can’t handle it. The entire western side of Washington state into the eastern side is flooding yet again.
This brings us to my neck of the woods. The Nooksack River used to be dredged although that hasn’t happened since the mid 1990’s. This river has 3 forks merging into one towards the Mt. Baker wilderness area. It’s fed by glacier melt from several sources. It picks up silt and rock debris as it makes its way to the ocean. Over the years, debris has piled up.
In 2021, the Everson-Nooksack-Sumas area experienced the worst flood in 100 years! Pretty catastrophic! Take a look at a picture from 2021 I shared in a post back then. Photo credit in the photo.
Jump forward to today. When I cautiously arrived at work, the river at 7 AM was at 70.6’. Flood stage is 83.0’. I checked every hour and watched it steadily increase. The rain was heavy and not letting up.
This was yesterday at 4 PM.
This was today at 2 PM…….
…..at 3 PM…..
…..and at 4 PM……
On FB, I found these statements issued by Nooksack River Disaster Group and the Everson police through same group:
It’s shaping up to be as bad if not worse than 2021’s flood. I closed the clinic at 12:30 for they had issued across the phone alert system, that there was a voluntary evacuation. I have about 3 escape routes all dependent upon whether or not I can outrun the water! Better safe than sorry, so I headed for home.
Work tomorrow will depend on the water blocking my way or not. I’m hoping that maybe it’s not going to be as bad as predicted however, it’s still raining.
Every place up and down the western side of the mountains is in a similar and in some cases, worse situation, so if you pray, please pray for us all. It’s saddens me to think of people going through this and especially during the Christmas season.
That’s gonna be it for today. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

NKJV 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness. Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober. For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, that whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with Him.
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Correction on the beginning river height: Not 70.6 but 78.6🙃
Goodness, that reminded me of the flooded upper Fraser valley at that time. I know some friends that live up there.
Thank God this didn't come down as snow today.

Hi, greetings!
Stay safe 🙏❤️💡 prayers your way.. I !HOPE it would not be as bad as before. Adverse weather conditions are becoming more prevalent these past few years. This year our country is ranked as the most disaster-prone country in the world. 😔 Guess we all need to learn to adapt to changing times. Take care always...
