Weird Wednesday 🤪………My Actifit Report Card: November 5 2025

It was a bit of a weird day at work! Midmorning, an older gentleman came in with a pair of glasses that needed repairing. My coworker asked him for his name which he gave. Then she asked him for his phone number and he said I don’t know it. Then he proceeded to lay a belt and a buckle on the counter and told her that he wanted to use the screwdriver we would use to repair his glasses on this belt and buckle. I was with a patient, so I’m not sure what she said to him. Then he said he’d be back to get them. She called out to him to come get the belt. He replied-that’s the whole point! I want you to repair it too. He proceeded to walk out. 🧐

Well….. first-we are not a repair shop for items. The glasses I fixed without a screwdriver. Because optical equipment is not the same as standard tools and because we use them on glasses that go on people’s faces-well a belt is usually laden with dried sweat!

We won’t repair the belt-that’s not what our clinic is for. My coworker said he was kind of rude and she’s wondering how he will take the fact that he needs to figure out an alternative.

We also had a mom and her 3 daughters ranging in age from 6, 4 and about 18 months, that when they came in, the children began grabbing up frames. Mom said nothing; my coworker asked them to stop. They did but then began trying to do it more.

When they were in the exam room, mom let the 4 year old out of the exam room to go to the bathroom alone while she went back in the exam room. The little girl then came out and headed to the back office where I was working. She stopped and I told her she needed to go back to the exam room. She was looking for something to get into. Fortunately, we foiled her attempts! 😁

It has definitely been an odd day! Here’s to hoping the Twilight Zone is done and tomorrow is just plain old normal.
