Mellow Yellow!……My Actifit Report Card: October 22 2025

Yesterday as I was driving home from ladies Bible study, I didn’t have any traffic around me, so I thought I’d take the shots of the road where it is lined with Big Leaf Maple trees. This year, instead of the drab, mustard yellow, we have a more vibrant yellow.

The Pacific Northwest is known for the Big Leaf Maples. They don’t call them that for nothing! Some of their leaves can measure upwards of 2 feet across! 😳🍁 true nugget ever found this far was 25”-just over 2 feet! Quite amazing!

In the fall as the chlorophyll fades and the other pigments in the leaves emerge, the fall colors are revealed. Weather meaning rainfall and humidity can play a roll in how vibrant those colors can be.

This year, the trees are more colorful as you head into the foothills and on up into the mountains. Vine Maples will throw more reds and oranges into the color mix. The are much smaller than the Big Leaf Maples are and tend to be a forest underbrush type tree. They can be beautiful!

The sun when shining can set these leaves aglow which can even make it seem like a lovely yellow daylight longer because of the light being reflected off of the leaves.

I get to see this on my way home from wherever I’ve gone! Beautiful!
