White, Puffy Things……….My Actifit Report Card: July 8 2025
Clouds……we see them daily in the sky. Sometimes they’re absent. Most days lately, they are not.
Cumulonimbus clouds are those big and white puffy things, like in the first picture. Ever lay on the ground to see what shapes or animals they seem like? It’s been years since I’ve done that. Maybe it’s time!
The definition of cumulonimbus clouds is as follows as per Grok: A cumulonimbus cloud is a type of cloud characterized by its towering, vertical structure, often associated with thunderstorms. It forms on clear, sunny days when warm, moist air rises rapidly, cooling and condensing into a dense, anvil-shaped cloud with a puffy, white appearance and sometimes a dark, ominous base. These clouds can extend high into the atmosphere, often reaching the tropopause, and are capable of producing heavy rain, lightning, thunder, hail, strong winds, and occasionally tornadoes. They typically have a lifecycle involving development, maturity, and dissipation, driven by strong updrafts and downdrafts.
High Cirrus clouds are comprised of ice crystals as they are way up in the atmosphere. Grok’s definition: High cirrus clouds are thin, wispy clouds found at high altitudes, typically above 20,000 feet (6,000 meters) in the troposphere. Composed of ice crystals due to the cold temperatures at these heights, they often appear delicate and feathery, sometimes forming a halo around the sun or moon. Cirrus clouds are usually associated with fair weather but can indicate an approaching storm system or warm front when they thicken or spread. They form in stable air masses where gentle updrafts allow water vapor to freeze into crystals, and their high altitude makes them translucent, allowing sunlight to pass through with minimal scattering.
A cloud formation like this picture is called a cirrocumulus cloud. Grok’s definition: A combination of cirrus and cumulus clouds, where the clouds appear somewhat puffy but still have a wispy or feathery quality, is likely a cirrocumulus cloud. Cirrocumulus clouds are found at high altitudes (above 20,000 feet or 6,000 meters) like cirrus clouds but have a puffy, small, white, and sometimes gray appearance similar to cumulus clouds. They often form in small, rounded patches or rows, giving a “cotton ball” or rippled look in the sky. These clouds are composed of ice crystals due to their high altitude and are usually associated with fair weather, though they can signal an approaching weather change, such as a warm front or storm system. If the clouds you’re describing are lower and more distinctly puffy, they might lean more toward cumulus, but the combination of wispy and puffy traits strongly suggests cirrocumulus.
And of course, those gray cumulonimbus clouds……
…are full of rain ready to fall! Which leaves us where we are heading here soon.
We could use a little rain and based on the forecast, it will be a one day thing. Then back to sunshine and cooler temperatures for a couple of days. I’m liking it as I won’t have to water the garden!
That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and enjoy the rest of your day wherever you are! 🙏🌏🙏

NKJV Isaiah 35:1-7
The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them,
And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;
It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,
Even with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
The excellence of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the LORD,
The excellency of our God.
Strengthen the weak hands,
And make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and save you.”
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
