Oh No! 🙀………My Actifit Report Card: January 19 2024

This was the sight that greeted me as I went out to go to work! While I disappointingly started to put my stuff in the back, @silvertop started down the driveway on foot. In the meantime, I was removing the bags I’d placed around the windshield wipers to keep the ice off, almost falling from the ice, only to find that the big wiper on the driver’s side was now broken! The little one on the passenger side broke on Wednesday morning! I was wiper less! 😳 @silvertop came back from checking the road. He wasn’t happy! He’d almost fallen just trying to stand in one place!! We went back in the house. I called the county road folks to complain, and then I called 5 neighbors asking them to call and complain as well! After that, I called the doc to see what we were going to do. He lives in Bellingham where road maintenance isn’t an issue. He wanted me to try to reschedule some for the afternoon as I had 2 cancellations yesterday. In calling and texting patients, about 85% of them were canceling and rescheduling for later. I eventually texted the doc to let him know and he canceled the rest of the day.

As I was working from home, @silvertop set out for an excursion up the road. He ran into a guy who had a pickup truck with a salt spreader on the back. He was going to plow the road! Yippee!

We’re not sure if he works for the DOT, but he’s a new resident to the street. We were so grateful he did this.

We set out around 1 PM to head to Everson for new wipers and to get me to work. North Pass had not been plowed. I was driving and at one point thought for sure we were headed for the ditch! I’d never had that kind of drive before. I told @silvertop, he was driving home! Once off of North Pass, the rest of the drive was okay. We got to the auto parts store and got the wipers and put them on. Then, off to the clinic! I worked until 4:20 and we headed for home. When we got to North Pass, we were both bracing for the ride, but the county FINALLY made it and had plowed it. Finally!

If I hadn’t gone to work today, it would have been the first time in 10 years that I’d had a vacation of sorts! I guess I blew that by going in, but I felt obligated to do so and there is always so much for me to do!
