No Horsin’ Around!…….My Actifit Report Card: January 18 2024

This Appaloosa was mildly interested in the goings on of the road. We were snow bound today. The plow trucks have not graced us with their presence, despite a call to the county road folks. The huge thing is that we have elderly folks at the end of the road. One is sick and could need emergency services at any given time! There is no way an ambulance could get to her if needed with the roads in such bad shape.

So, as of tonight, we are still snowed in. There are people getting out, but our next hurdle is that our driveway looked like this.

The red arrow is indicative of what needed to be shoveled. We don’t have a tractor nor a snow blower. Consequently, @silvertop shoveled just the apron at the road last night. This morning, he started at the backend of the car and headed towards the road. The total distance was about 150 feet or more that needed shoveled and about 10’ wide. That’s a lot of driveway to shovel by hand! He would work for a while and come in to rest and then go back. He literally spent from around 8:00 until around 4:00 removing 11 1/2” of snow! You might say he was on a mission!

On top all of that, they’d forecasted freezing rain to begin falling in the afternoon, so I was very reluctant to head out to work on a snow covered driveway with unplowed roads and then the freezing rain on top of it! I was afraid of not being able to come home, plus quite frankly, no job is worth damaging my car or losing my life over!

Oh! Did I mention that before @silvertop did all that shoveling, he hiked all the way to South Pass to see what condition that road was in? That’s a good 3 mile round trip hike in deep snow! Not an easy hike by any means! Thank you dear!! 🥰

I did call and confirm appointments for tomorrow. Thus far, I’ve had 3 cancellations. It’s hard to say what will happen in the end as if the rain appears as forecast, it could be very dicey for all involved. We are going to have to wait and see what Mother Nature dishes out!
