Ahhhh……The Wonder Of It All!……My Actifit Report Card: November 18 2023
Ahhhh the wonder of it all! That’s what I think when I actually stop and look at God’s work! Nature is so amazing. How it grows; how it works together; how it exists! When you’re in the forest and stop and look up at the trees that surround you-it kind of leaves you awestruck. Just look at how tall these trees are! I can tell you that their roots begin in a ravine way down from where I was standing when I took this picture!
Our day started off slow as Saturdays often do. I’m tired and crawling out of bed isn’t high on my priority list. Today was such a day. Once up and showered and ready, I began some laundry and then eventually dragged myself upstairs to do a little work from home. At least I get paid for it and it does really need to be done if I’m going to be on top of this new software system. Once I get started, it’s okay. 😏 I worked on that for a little over an hour and then it was time to head out for a hike. We chose to drive a couple of miles to the Gold Mine Trail. Jan came with.
It was a mostly sunny day, but the sun is seriously low in the sky. It leaves you with the feeling you need to hurry. The ground was wet and the leaves on the ground can leave you scrambling for purchase so you don’t fall in the mess of it or the creek you happen to be crossing! It was a beautiful hike with tons of eye candy! I wasn’t sure what I’d find to photograph, but I was looking for all of it! Enjoy!
Such beauty often in places we cannot see without the aid of a camera! I’ve got more pictures, but will save them for another day.

Beautiful trail…do you ever do any gold prospecting up there ? In the rivers ?
Oh my.....where to begin? In the creek that runs in front of our place, there are gold flakes there. When we used to live in Colorado, we did pan for gold, but it is a hard and cold work!

I am fairly certain if you look long and hard, you could probably find some flakes of gold in Hayden Creek which flows at timestorrentially, down the slopes. There is gold up towards the Mt. Baker area.
The Gold Mine, well it was a total scam and an amazing feat of physical ingenuity, especially when you see this trail for yourself. They were nuts!

Wow…. What an interesting story. I’m sure there were lots of Gold “claims” like this when the Gold Rush hit out in California and the Yukon. There is a similar story with the Eldorado Gold Rush here in Ontario … caves lined with gold …., but none ever found during later mining expeditions ….
It is amazing to me that scammers were obviously there 100+ years ago just as they are now. The real difference is the exertion it took to pull something off like that and nowadays, just a keystroke or two and they do it with little effort!
Why can't people just be good? A timeless question, I'm sure!
