Time marches on……

I had a good day at work today being a ‘me, myself and I’ day. I got a lot of things done. I did have a first timer early in the afternoon. He was a boy about 14 years old, but what struck me about him was that he could not grasp the concept of using his index finger and thumb to pick up a contact lens. When I explained he needed to take both thumb and finger at the same time to pick up the lens, he first took the index finger of his right hand and thumb of his left hand which wouldn’t work, he reversed using thumb from left hand and index of right hand which fared no better. He honestly could not grasp what he needed to do. My first thought was how did he get along in school if he couldn’t understand how to pick something up? So where does the fault lie-with the school system missing an elementary concept or with his parents? It’s a bit mind boggling to me! I was able to get him trained in the end with encouragement and trying to keep his stress level down. It took him about 45-60 minutes from start to finish. 👍

Tomorrow is FRIDAY! Yippee! We are booked so I’m hoping the day flies. Then, tomorrow evening, Bill and Agi bring Phoenix to stay while they take a road trip where unfortunately for Phoenix, doggies aren’t allowed. She’ll have fun here plus she’ll have to work at getting Cot and Cyle on board!

Thanks sis! I will take many photos of her, but she is a day delayed. Bill realized he was trying to squeeze too much in too short a time frame. We will have her through the 18th or 19th of this month so plenty of photo opps!🤗😘💖🌹!LOLZ.

It's funny but I had learned about index fingers, and what other fingers are called when I was in college. But of course, thumb is the most famous. Lol

But in this case, he really didn't grasp the concept of using the same hand for finger and thumb. That's sad......

I'm so glad I was able to get my kids into a private Christian school or they would have academically languished in the underwhelming school system. It was worth sacrificing half my retirement savings for.

I agree! I don't think this kid will have too easy a time of it, which in turn might create someone he really doesn't want to be. Hopefully, someone will take him under their mentorship and try to teach him. Take care @kerrislravenhill!
