My Actifit Report Card: November 5 2022

Hey everybody and thanks ๐Ÿ™ for stopping by today! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฉ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘

Well-today was the day for our son and his wife to bring Phoenix to stay with us while theyโ€™re visiting her parents over in Hungary ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡บ It was hard for them to leave her as they love her very much, and hard for me to let them go because theyโ€™re traveling over 9000 miles away!๐Ÿฅฒ

Hereโ€™s a cartoonized pic of Phoenix and Banjo the kitty at their home.

Hereโ€™s Phoenix, the real deal!

She is a mix of dachshund and Rhodesian Ridgeback. Very energetic and currently suffering a bit of separation anxiety from her parents. Sheโ€™s a good girl though and I suspect sheโ€™ll perk up here in a few days.

Cot and Cyle however, may never be the same! They went into hiding the moment she got here and have not ventured out as of yet.

Who knows when theyโ€™ll come back out?!

Before they got here today, we headed out for a short hike. Look at how big this maple leafs is!

The rain had stopped for now and other than tomorrow and maybe a few snowflakes on Monday; after that, we are supposed to have a small stretch of good weather. We shall see!

Thatโ€™s gonna be it for now. We are heading to church โ›ช๏ธ tomorrow and obviously Phoenix canโ€™t come with, so Iโ€™m hoping she will have settled down a bit by then.

Take care and have a blessed Sunday! Please continue to ๐Ÿ™ for ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ฆ

Look at how big this maple leafs is!

That is huge! Is this normal? I've never seen a real maple tree in my life, but with that colour, I know it'll be lovely in the spring.

The tree this is from is called a Big Leaf Maple. I usually find one or two seriously super sized leaves every fall. Overall, the leaves are much bigger than regular maples! Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Have a lovely week!

Do you think it is possible to grow a maple tree in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia? I guess it might take years for the tree to grow. I even wonder if you can get maple syrup just from the tree itself. Sorry for being so curious about it, but this plant has me stunned. I just love the shape and colours.

I would think with enough water, it should grow. It's funny you should ask about the maple syrup! Last winter, we tapped several of these big leaf maple trees and did in fact get enough sap to boil it down into syrup! It was quite tasty too! We plan to give it another try this winter. It requires a lot of boiling, which has to be done outside due to the steam it creates, but it is so tasty and worth the effort!

You can ask me always, whatever you like. I will always try to answer! Take care and enjoy your day! !LADY

Owh, so the syrup is made by boiling the maple leaf? I thought you needed to tap your maple tree in the same way that rubber taping is done. Isn't it wonderful to be able to make your own maple syrup? Your description above has the potential to make my mouth water. ๐Ÿคค๐Ÿคค๐Ÿคค

She is indeed a cutie! She loves to snuggle with me on the couch! (and she's warm, too)

They don't call them "big leaf maples" for nothing! Take care!

She is! You should have seen her tonight when I came home from work! I was almost stunned! She acted as if I were my son when he comes home from work. I'm kind of flattered because he said she is a 'man's dog', but I'm finding that to not be so true after all. She prefers me for now. She is a sweetie!

Lol! Here, we don't just allow dogs like that unless they had vaccines.

She's a clean dog! She doesn't visit with other dogs and our son and daughter in law, pretty much keep her away from others.

Nice. Actually my sister was scratched by a dog recently so she took vaccines. My friend was also bitten, and she received 17 injections.

Wow! So sorry; were they afraid of rabies for the one who had 17 injections?

Yes. Rabies is very common here. There are people who died from rabies.

I have heard the shots are very painful. I am so sorry they had to go through them. Do they not require dogs to have a rabies vaccine in your country?

Yes. It's very painful. It's recommended or the dogs to have the shots, but not required. They require to either leash the dog or put them within their yard. It was never reinforced though. There are so many dogs roaming the streets. I even saw a small child being surrounded and barked at by the dogs. I'm very mad at the owners upon seeing it.

That is one thing I will never understand; here, people let their dogs run loose as well, and often they end up out on a busy road where they get hit. Or, the neighborhood cougar thinks they make a tasty snack, or some other malady befalls them. In the city, I think people are not caring of their pets when they let them run loose.

We don't even allow our kitties out because of the wildlife, (cougars, eagles, hawks) and also because people like to try to hit an animal if it's in the road. We even had a neighbor, some years ago, shoot our kitty (he was an indoor/outdoor kitty) and although he didn't die, he almost did plus he was sick for along time afterward. He was maimed for life. Consequently, they go out no more!

In your case, it sounds like some of them are vicious and shouldn't be out anyway. People are so irresponsible!

That's true. People are irresponsible! The main reason why I don't like dogs is I was chased by dogs a lot of times when I was young.

I've had dogs throughout my life but more as an adult after we were married. When I met @silvertop, he had this German Shepherd that absolutely seemed to hate me! I was terrified of him. Needless to say, the dog stayed with his mom, but one day, she came over with him. I was sick in bed with the flu, and no one was paying any attention to the dog. He came in the bedroom; jumped up on the bed! My first thought was 'I am going to die here'. The dog came up and sniffed me and gave me a big ol' slurpy of a kiss across my cheek and proceeded to lie down and go to sleep! You can't imagine how I felt after that, lol!

You may be shocked, surprised, happy? Or a combination of those emotions? Hehe.
I actually had a dog before but he has his own place, not inside the house because of, you know, asthma. I do give him food often. When he died, I was crying badly.

Our pets become such a part of the family. I still miss many of the kitties and doggies I've had over the years. I can still tear up.
