My Actifit Report Card: July 18 2022

Hey everybody and thanks 🙏 for stopping by! 😎👍😁

Today’s was the day! We were headed out to the Gold Mine Trail and a special friend of Jan’s was coming with. You’ll see her soon in a picture.

It rained last night and usually, rain isn’t a good thing for hiking this trail as there is one larger creek and a couple smaller ones to traverse. Rain 🌧 means more water 💦 in these streams usually, but that didn’t seem to be the case after all. There were no issues with it 😁

We were going to the location of the gold safe first for it is still there along with the remnants of an old ore car.

This is Jan with her friend, Tamara.

Tamara was loving every minute of the hike. She’d never been to the Gold Mine Trail; the history about this is rich and a total scandal!

For the historical details, copy and paste this link: https://www.whatcomtalk.com/2019/08/09/gold-mine-trail-a-hike-through-sumas-mountain-history/

The trails are through cedar and Doug Fir forests, up steep inclines and local native plants everywhere. It was a perfect day for this hike despite the overcast conditions and a bit of humidity.

@actifit-lamb and a brother/sister German team came along for the hike. Actually, there 7 lambs present but because of the damp conditions, they didn’t even want to come out of the backpack and get dirty! Maybe next time. Anyway, Willabella and Wendell did enjoy some time by the fire 🔥 pit.

Just inside the fire 🔥 pit, we found a 7 year old snail 🐌 I decided to move it as I figured it might just get further into the pit and someone might come along and start a camp fire 🔥 He would be one cooked little snail! 🐌 🙀🙀🙀
They work far too hard to produce their shells so I figured he deserved to live!

Part of the remaining foundation of the dancehall can still be seen.

I have more pics but will share them in the coming days.

That’s gonna be it for now. Take care and enjoy your day! Please continue to pray for Ukraine 🇺🇦

👣🐑🥾🤗☕️🐌🔥😁💦🌧😴

Ahhh.....thank you sis! Yes that is me! I was on a mission to photograph a fern and a 'shroom! You never know what you might find in the forest!

History is so rich and we often don't think much about it. I'm finding as I get older, that I am more interested in the history of things that interest me.

Thank you as always, sis, for stopping by and commenting! Love ya much!🤗😘💞🌹. !LADY

Hi @jenthoughts! I think about the calcium the snail ingests to create the shell and how long a process that must be and I can't help but move them to safety! They deserve to live after all that hard work!

We did have a good time and plan to go back and take her to the cabin that is up on that trail as well. It was built (the cabin) in 1892.

Nice to meet you has well! Take care and a hug for you! 🤗 💜
