My Actifit Report Card: June 25 2022

Hey everybody and thanks 🙏 for stopping by! 😎👍🌞🌞🌞

I slept in unintentionally. I had the alarm ⏰ set for 7:30 and when it went off, I promptly rolled over and turned it off. Next thing I knew, it was 9:00! 🙀🙀🙀 The best intentions-right?

Once up and dressed, I made coffee ☕️ ☕️☕️ for us and then headed outside to drape a sheet across my tender Brussels sprouts plants. It’s day one of our heatwave and in the afternoon, where these little guys are, it receives a lot of intense sunlight which burns whatever is planted there. Once they were protected nicely, I put out slug bait around all my flowers 🌸 and plants as slugs are emerging and starting to eat them. Why exactly do we have slugs?!

Then, it was time to hike. I had determined that possibly I needed the weight of my backpack which has a special frame I added to it for airflow. It adds a bit of weight to the pack but I’ve found this frame helpful in the past when my back is out of sorts. I loaded the backpack with @actifit-lamb and 12 of her family members. The weight helps to redefine my posture and it gently pushes on my lower spine which feels pretty good. Off we set. Jan was suffering from the heat and did not join us.

I found I tended to stop a bit more to rest my back and also because of the heat. We don’t get any acclimation here. We go from cool to hot in the space of 24-36 hours. The heat impacts us more because of that.

I found this cute little guy in the road and moved him to safety.

The goal today was Soaring Eagle 🦅 Trail. Along the way, we found this little fur baby.

He was so cute and tiny. He chattered a bit at us and scurried up the tree 🌲 and leapt from one branch to another and was gone!🐿

Once to the landing, we decided to turn back around as there was no shade and no place to relax. We went on back up and started towards Towhee Ridge. The lambs 🐑 were decidedly getting squirrelly and needed out of the pack.

There were 13 in all present for today’s hike. I couldn’t get them all in the backpack-some had to stay home 🏡

They enjoyed themselves immensely and were happy to be out in the sun ☀️🐑

I found a couple of nice specimens from the plant kingdom as well.

On the trek back down, the mosquitoes 🦟 were vicious. I try to avoid them as I am allergic and the bites can develop into cellulitis-not a fun thing!

Tomorrow will begin with church ⛪️. Day 2 of the heatwave. Not sure of our plans yet for the day afterwards.
