My Actifit Report Card: February 1 2022
Hey everybody and thanks for stopping by!
It rained last night-enough to wake me up from a sound sleep. Made me happy I had put about 4 layers of foil on top of the turkey fryer and used my super rubber band to keep it in place!
Thus began day two of sappy syrup day! This was our starting point.
A beautiful golden hue! More on that in a minute…….
Today was also coffee roasting day! 😅☕️
I love the smell of green coffee beans! I also like the smell of them as they begin roasting, further on in the roasting process, and of course, the finished product!
Now, back to the sap……
It had finally boiled down enough to move the sap to a smaller stock pot.
During this time, we decided I’d better head to the post office to ship the six pounds of coffee I roasted before we got down to the nitty gritty of the final syrup stages.
Once that was done, we continued to watch and wait. This is the first time we have tried making maple syrup. Our 9 gallons of sap boiled down to approximately 28 ounces of syrup, and here’s the finished product!
A beautiful medium golden color and a buttery maple taste! I read somewhere that early sap produces a light golden color, mid season a medium golden color and end of season, but before it’s too late, a darker golden brown. I am pleased as is @silvertop! We are already making plans for next winter’s batch and what extra equipment we might need. I can hardly wait!
However, now I feel like Cot looks……
Do you think I might can sleep tomorrow at work, lol? (sigh).
It’s all good-just this coming Saturday-I’m sleeping in and am doing nothing but going for a hike! 🤣

Hi @elizabethbit, I see that you are using Actifit, and you are reporting regular. I'd like to invite you to join #POLIAC, it is some kind of tournament where 16 participants will compete every day for one month with each other in two duels who report more steps in the daily Actifit report.
From your side you don't need to do anything special, just post as usual your daily Actifit report, if you skip one or two nothing happen, you only lost your duel(s). Here you could see the final report from last season of #POLIAC, which gives you a picture of what is about. Cause still I have a couple of free slots for next season which starts on 1st March I'd like to invite you. Excellent, stay tuned. Now I need some rest, running this tournament is time-consuming, but we are back in March. I will make an introduction post week before the start.

Next year, we plan to be better prepared. We will tap a tree on New Year's day and begin watching for the flow. Once it starts, we'll begin tapping the others. We are hoping to increase our sap production, thereby increasing the syrup production. If it works, I will keep you in mind my sweet sis!😘🤗🌸❣️

Ahh awesome, we've got factory made maple syrup for Pancakes at home and taste like honey, they claim its natural but I've never tasted real maple syrup without those extra additives. Wanted to be sure it wasn't just loads of sugar init.

Maple syrup is still sugar, but it's not high fructose corn syrup, which is a known addictive substance. Maple syrup is natural sugar, and I find it very sweet; a little goes a long way! Take care sis and enjoy your day!💜🤗😘🌻
