My Actifit Report Card: May 23 2021

Hey everybody and thanks for stopping by.

This morning we attended church. The sermon was good and we enjoyed our time there.

After we came home, we decided to go get some gasoline so the yard could be mowed in the coming week. On the way home, we stopped by the Gold Mine Trail entrance to see what was going on with it.

If you look closely, you see signs that say closed and a sign that says open. A bit of a oxymoron I’ll admit, but I’ll explain. For a hundred years, the access to the trail has been where you see the closed sign. The folks who own the land to the right side of the fence have decided no more access. Fortunately for the many of us hikers who know and love the trail, the neighbor on the left side of the fence has created a new wider opening on their property for the trail and welcomes hikers to come and hike! It’s much nicer than the old as there are no more boggy mires to slip and fall in! Thank you Jason Lautenbach and family for caring and providing the access to this historic trail!😎👍

We called Jan and we got in the car to drive the 5 minutes to get there and headed up!

We were just going to hike an hour up and then turn back as tonight is Jan’s multi family phone call and we wanted to make sure she got back in plenty of time.

There are many little creeks you have to cross when hiking this trail. A couple are fairly muddy, but Jason has been doing maintenance and you can usually step on stones to get through or traverse the sides.

It was a nice afternoon and hike.

RIP Ross - will be greatly missed. I’ll always hear his southern drawl in my mind when he would say “hey Beth”. He was my brother 💔🙏

Take care all 🤗🥰

I'm sorry again for your loss, sis.
I said a prayer for him but didn't know his name. Now I know.
That is really very neighborly to allow you to hike through their property.
I looks like there are some tricky trail!

Thank you @silversaver888! Thank you for praying for him.

There can be some narrow trails on this whole system with nice drop offs, lol. However, the worst or most treacherous trail I've ever hiked was over in Plain Washington. Someone had literally hacked a trail that zigzagged up a steep mountain side. The trail was very steep with lots of switchbacks and only about a foot wide! After we began, I really wanted to turn around, but when I looked back to see how far we'd have to descend on that narrow ledge, I decided the only way was up and once we hit the top, I never wanted to hike that again! Ever! Whew! Needless to say......we have not!

Take care sis!🤗😘💕🌸

Oh wow, am truly sorry for your loss. I couldn't move away without a comment.Someday all will be left of us is a photograph. Hopefully Ross went away in a peaceful manner. Death still remains a mystery but definitely a part of life and we've got to keep going. Nice pictures and am glad the day was awesome. Enjoy Tuesday ahead :}

Thank you @practicaleric, for your kind words. I had the strongest urge to call him on Wednesday and Thursday, and didn't. I wish I had, but was working and with his an my time zone difference, he would have been well in bed by the time I got off work. I'm not even sure yet just how this went down, so maybe I couldn't have talked with him anyway. Maybe someday, I'll know the answer to that. Again, thank you and take care.
