My Actifit Report Card: April 7 2022 - We Are Alive IAAC #8 - Work in progress in the royal city of Neaples

A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.

Yesterday a fast Atlantic disturbance completely ruined the whole day and it rained all night and in the morning it seemed to turn for the worse.

But an intense mistral wind has risen and has swept away left the road to a majestic irruption of the sun.

Today I was in Naples to attend to some errands and I decided to make an inspection to check at what stage the modernization works of the city are at.

Naples was conquered by almost all the civilizations that populated the Mediterranean. Here the Greeks, Romans, Ostrogoths, Byzantines, Normans, Swabians, Aragonese, Angevins, Austrians, Bourbons and finally the Savoy each has left a trace of its greatness in the city that has been preserved in a mix of art and culture with few equals in the world.

The day before yesterday, the TV reported that the huge Piazza Municipio had been cleared of construction sites and had become livable again. But, when I arriving in person on the spot, I noticed that not only was the square still full of works in progress but at least one work in progress defaced every single monument in the city and huge cruise ships are parked in the city's main seaport.

The Bourbons are the ones who most of all have enriched the city with monuments and cultural structures. Here there is a magnificent photo of the Mercadante Theater built with goods confiscated from the Jesuit order.

Presiding over the square from above today there was a splendid Certosa di San Martino, a Gothic structure that has been modernized in the Baroque style. In its basement you can admire the legacies of the monument's Gothic architecture.

Piazza Municipio is accompanied by the mighty figure of the Castel Nuovo known more commonly as Maschio Angioino and today an old cannon shot, which scarred the precious monument, stood out in a particular way.

Here is the oldest opera house in the world still active, the San Carlo built in 1737 by the will of the illustrious and enlightened king Charles of Bourbon. It was taken as a model for all the other theaters then built in Europe.

Finally I take this selfie to let you know who I'm still #alive for my 8th #IAmAliveChallenge also in the strong wind today.
