Anyone for ski jumping? 😅 - My Actifit Report Card: January 24 2024

Hey dear actifitters and readers,

travelling is part of my job and sometimes it's hard to spent hours on the highways. Yesterday I had the opportunity to visit a costumer in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the very south of Germany.

After an early appointment in Munich I took the car and drove southwards towards the Alps.

The sky was cloudy and I was hoping for some sunbeams and blue sky to get some nice views of the mountains.

And indeed weather got better and better. Temperarures climbed to 15°C due a local wind phenomenon.

After the job was done I went to the ski jumping hill.

The stadium was build in the late 1930's. And it felt like in the 1930's.

The architecture is very monumental and feels like the Olympic stadium in Berlin, which was build at the same time.

In 1936 the Olympic winter games were held in Garmisch.

Today the Olympiahaus (Olympic house) is a restaurant.

The big ski jump is the fourth ski jump at this place. At the Olympic games in 1936 the jump was a wooden construction and much smaller as the jump today.

At the opposite site of the hill I could spot some mountains without clouds. Unfortunately the Zugspitze, highest summit of Germany was hidden in the clouds.

I did a short walk through town and went back to Munich.
