**This will contain spoilers!!

After watching Spider-Man: No Way Home, any other movie will probably feel like a big letdown. Still though, I was pretty into this movie. Nothing mind-blowing but this is an enjoyable film.

The beginning of this movie definitely starts out pretty gnarly. I can tell off the bat that this one has a nice edgy vibe to it.

Prior to watching Venom, I was thinking perhaps this movie was going have a sort of 'Suicide Squad' feel to it because when I last heard of, and saw Venom on the big screen, he was essentially a bad guy. I thought so anyway?

But, in this Venom film, the main character Eddie Brock is a bit of a conflicted dude, but I don't get the impression he is a jerk. If anything he's a bit of a simple, but determined man. I don't mean simple in a bad or stupid way, he's just like a regular dude and he keeps it real. I get the impression the character has a good heart too. I was not exactly expecting this, for whatever reason. It was cool. This gave the movie a different personality than I anticipated it would have.

Eddie Brock's alien parasite, Venom, is also an element of the film I did not see coming. I assumed that the Venom alien was just going to be similar to the Hulk side of things, a wild energy/beast that Eddie must try to contain inside himself.

But boy was I wrong. It turns out Venom is alive and can talk, and is quite smart. That blew me away a little. The Eddie-Venom relationship is straight up like a partnership. Like a Dragon and a Dragon Rider. Venom has it's own thoughts and feelings and everything, a whole personality.

Eddie and Venom's relationship starts out a little intense/rocky. But even in the beginning, you can tell that these two kind of like each other. As these two 'beings' face challenges and have fights throughout the movie, their relationship gets stronger with ease. It's such an entertaining, and funny relationship that makes this film stand out.

Eddie/Venom work together to defeat a scientist named Drake with his own alien symbiote named 'Riot'. Drake wants what almost all villains want. Drake believes that these alien symbiotes will help evolve humans and help them survive in space. But these symbiotes are smart and simply want to eat humans LOL.

This Drake dude, really wasn't the most intimidating Villain ever. I just wasn't too impressed. A very 'meh' villain.

Venom actually grows to like not only Eddie, but he grows to like Eddie's ex-girlfriend and Earth itself. So that's what basically motivates Venom to help defeat Riot and Drake and prevent them from bringing millions of alien symbiotes to earth where the majority of humans would be eaten.

Don't get me wrong Venom is still an alien. He wants to eat most of anything with a pulse, but he is oddly moral and like actually listens to Brock when Brock requests he not eat people or do random chaotic stuff. Venom is such an interesting character. He feels like if Batman's Joker was like 60 percent nicer and less insane. Venom is pretty cool but you can still tell maybe a few screws are loose. He can be charming as hell too. So interesting.

The more I think about it, many of the things I have said about Venom, could also be said for Brock. It is apparent Eddie and Venom are a pretty perfect combo.

So maybe there are some Suicide Squad/damaged hero vibes, but just like a sprinkle or a dash. I was genuinely surprised and pleased to see there are indeed many typical classic superhero qualities to Eddie, hell and even Venom.

This movie kept it simple, but also had a had a distinct plan and personality, if that makes any sense. It was a great opening movie for a hero franchise.

There was plenty of chopping heads and surprising edgy violence in this movie. But Eddie/Venom are actually less like a Deadpool, and more like a Spiderman/Ironman. All of those personality traits seem to be wrapped into them at once.

I had no idea how deep Venom's storyline actually was. I am intrigued to see what happens in the next film.

What did anyone else think of this movie?

I'll give this a 7.5/10. My scale will probably take awhile to perfect LOL.

I loved how this film manages the relationship between Venom and Eddie, sadly, other aspects of the movie such as the villain leave a lot to be desired. nice post!
