Spiderman: Far From Home (2019) Movie Review/thoughts

Well, I have decided it would be good to take a little bit of a break from writing about just sports. I finally got my hands on a copy of Spiderman: Far From Home, Tom Holland's second stand alone Spiderman film.

Since I really was not a fan of the first film, I feel like this second one didn't have to do much to really improve. Well, I will say, this second film was much better. It still had some cringe, and eye-roll worthy moments, but I did enjoy this one significantly more!

As bad as I thought the first Tom Holland Spiderman movie was, perhaps Marvel actually has a decent plan for once? Maybe some like, actual patience? Could it be? I criticized the first film for basically making Spiderman HELLA wimpy, and just a pushover. Yeah, he's a nerdy high school kid. Whatever. He's ALSO supposed to be a badass, ya know? But maybe Marvel is actually like, developing the story and taking their time. Playing a long game, intelligently?

The reason I say this is because, while this second installment still had a lot of childish qualities, I could mildly sense an uptick in the movie's intensity. Maturity. Peter seems to have more of a sense of urgency, like a superhero should.

If these films can progress in a good way, this franchise could actually be kind of amazing. Nothing beats watching a character fully grow and develop. As much as I didn't like that first movie, perhaps down the line, if Tom Holland actually stays as Spiderman, that first movie could be a fascinating contrast to like, I don't know, Spider Man 6. Kind of like you can see a major difference in tone between the first Harry Potter, and the last film ten years later.

This second film seemed like it featured higher quality, smoother comedy, which I appreciated.

There were still elements of ridiculous wokeness. For example, referencing that joke of a media outlet 'Buzzfeed' like bro, Buzzfeed is a damn joke LOL. I'll give them partial credit for one of the characters mentioning that 'you can't believe everything you read online'. I also LOL'd when their teacher said 'I'm not qualified to talk to traumatized children' BRO. You are not qualified to be a nice adult teacher and attempt to comfort your students? Do we need a degree for everything nowadays? LMAO. What a joke. I'm so glad the movie industry is being humbled by the internet and podcasts etc.

I find Nick Fury annoying, but he is basically playing his part fine.

The Mysterio plot twist was pretty predictable, but I believe Jake Gyllenhaal made it work very well. Jake was casted perfectly! He played an awesome villain, I loved it.

Once the plot twist occurred, this movie improved immensely! The graphics and action were so cool. The whole illusion concept was absolutely awesome just so trippy. Wow man. That was my favorite part, no doubt about it.

The illusion concepts, the mysterious lines of, 'you see what I want, the world needs a hero', all of that just really spoke to the conspiracy side of me. Just makes you think about the crooked media and how shady science is in general. At least that is what I gathered. LOL.

But still that illusion concept obviously doesn't just apply to conspiracies LOL. If you think about it those type of challenges can apply to a lot of aspects of life. Don't overthink things and, things aren't as bad as they seem. A lot of ways to look at that illusion concept.

But anyway, a part of me now wonders if this third Spidey I have not seen, will still be a GRAND illusion by Mysterio or something.

I wasn't a huge fan of Spiderman jacking some of Iron Man's swag. I bet a lot of people liked it, but man let Stark be Stark, let Parker be Parker. I guess they are similarities between them. I get it. It just sort of bothered me. But, eh I wasn't enraged.

All in all, this movie was a big big improvement from that first poop they made.

I wanna see the third pretty bad now, I've been hearing good things about it!!

Well, those are my thoughts! 8.5/10? I haven't rated a lot of movies, perhaps that's too high LOL but still, this was solid.

What was your opinion of this film?
