Played my first chess tournament ever thanks to this community, and it was fun!

So yesterday was pretty cool! I did something I've never done before which is what life is all about in some ways. It's always great to try new things!

I participated in my first chess tournament and man it was pretty fun despite getting absolutely shredded. It can feel a bit tiring at times just stacking L's, but I just laugh it off. It's all for fun and learning of course! To have my first chess tournament be based out of Hive is truly awesome too. I've been on Hive for over eight years now and so I find this deeply satisfying to have been a part of this.

A few months ago I started playing chess and man I've really liked it. I'll never forget that first night when I finally understood the rules and played all night long. Chess might be the most excellent stress reliever ever. I can't even put it into words.

I was mostly using chess.com for awhile but using Lichess has been way cooler in many respects. They have unlimited puzzles and learning avenues in general! Most of these feature require payment on chess.com. It's just amazing Lichess is free! I've just been spamming rapid games on chess.com with pretty slow growth but with Lichess maybe I'll see more improvements. We shall see. Again I must thank this community for exposing me to Lichess!

I managed to win my second to last game yesterday, probably by sheer luck and because my opponent used berserk mode LOL. Hey man I'll take it. I was even sent 5 Hive due to having the biggest upset and I was pretty pumped! I can't thank this community enough! It means a lot!

I think this is such a unique way to grow chess and Hive simultaneously! I think this has very good potential to get rather big! I am likely going to participate in today's team battle. I likely won't score much if anything but I will try.

I grew up playing sports and stuff, and well, these competitions and chess in general really satisfies that desire to compete!
