Likely SPOILERS!!!

Chapters Read:

Part II: GIL'EAD

  • XVI. Aftermath
  • XVII. Exile

Part III: NAL GORGOTH

  • I. The Village
  • II. Bachel

These four chapters were interesting and diverse. They were the final two chapters of Part II, and the opening chapters of Part III.

The end of Part II felt very pensive to me. I learned that Thorn has claustrophobia due to Galbatorix treating him like garbage and keeping him enclosed in a tight area for a large part of his early life. I literally can't think of a worse scenario for a dragon who is meant to be in open spaces and free. Just terrible. I feel so bad for Thorn man. Despite that he seems courageous enough to try to get over this fear. He's a long way away from getting over it but he's trying, and Murtagh is helping which is awesome.

Murtagh and Thorn journey towards Bachel's village and the journey is really incredible. I LOVE picturing them fly across beautiful Alagaësia. The feeling of freedom is outstanding. Chapters like this is a large reason why I enjoy 'Inheritance' so much.

I got excited when Murtagh made the realization that Eragon and Arya must have heard news of Murtagh and Thorn's destruction/hasty escape at Gil'ead. I wonder what they are thinking!

Anyway, Murtagh and Thorn's journey was quite unique for other reasons as well. They visit Ristvak'baen where the Riders met their final decisive end due to Galbatorix defeating Vrael. They also fly over Carvahall. It's interesting that Eragon and Saphira emerged in a very close vicinity to where the Riders were officially defeated. Apparently Carvahall is being rebuilt including a castle type structure for Roran which is smart for Carvahall's sake and it's well deserved for Roran after everything he accomplished!

A tremendous moment was when Murtagh thought about how Roran is his cousin and then he contemplated if he is possibly similar to Roran!!! YES Murtagh you are quite similar to Roran indeed! That was a cool moment for me because I pointed out their similar personalities in a prior post! Too cool. Murtagh considered visiting Roran and I was really hoping he would but he ultimately decided against it unfortunately, but he made it known he would try to do so in the future. That's a visit I'd love to read about!

Murtagh and Thorn then venture OFF THE MAP into unknown, more wild lands! This was sooooo cool to experience. The lands were untamed and spooky as they sought out Bachel and her village. They mentioned how this relative area is where Galbatorix lost his first dragon, Jarnunvösk which just added to the mystery, and possible danger, of these lands.

Part three begins with another sweet piece of art. I love how there's artwork in the book, I just find it classy for some reason.

Eventually they finally find Bachel's village, which is apparently named Nal Gorgoth.

And they meet Bachel!

She is such an odd, mysterious woman... Apparently she is half elf and half human!!! Insane! What does that even mean?! Her presence is strange, and she seems frankly.... powerful which is not exactly surprising. Everything about her and the village is eerie.

Like, frankly I'm still processing the whole experience. I have a million new questions after this meeting...

She doesn't confront Murtagh and Thorn, she actually kinda treats them well, but it does seem rather fake. But at the same time she claims that Murtagh and Thorn are to be 'the saviors of the world' which is a wild to claim, and she said it like after a minute or two of meeting them which is uh, something HA. She can apparently see the future. At one point she requests Murtagh to dance and in my head I was PLEADING for him not to, and he didn't. But she had the audacity to say he would eventually dance for her, like what?? I definitely am not a fan of this lady but she hasn't been outright hostile herself yet. Murtagh and Thorn are literally just hanging out in Nal Gorgoth as of now.

It does end on a more blunt note though. As one of Bachel's Dreamers, who's named Grieve, leads Murtagh to where he'll sleep, he straight up says he does not like Murtagh whatsoever and that Bachel is way more powerful than him, without question. Like that whole moment caught me off guard in a big way.

It's safe to say the vibes are absolutely bizarre at the moment.

I can't wait to keep going!!! I'm definitely going to have some depression once I finish this one up.... luckily I have other books to re-read including three new ones I have not touched yet! Of course there's tons of books in the world in general HA.
