"Cirque Du Freak - A Living Nightmare" - Chapters 10-17 - My Thoughts

SPOILERS AHEAD
Chapters Read: 10-17
Ya know memory is a funny thing. Reading books allows me to remember certain snapshots of the past, snippets of life that I never think about, come shooting through my brain like little surges of electricity. Nuts.
Re-reading these books is about to be so excellent, I remember firmly now why this series is in my top three all time. Multiple times I thought to myself it's my favorite, but I must re-read Harry Potter first.
I might do an all-time list of all these books in my 'Big Three.'
- These 12 'Cirque Du Freak' books
- The 4 'The Inheritance Cycle' Books
- The 7 'Harry Potter' Books
I could Include 'Murtagh' and 'The Saga of Larten Crepsley', But I don't know. I think for simplicity's sake I'll stick to the core series of the three. Because they are really add ons and they wouldn't remotely exist without the originals. It feels more fair to stick to the main series for some reason.
Maybe a tier list or something. I know I've been a smidge against this before but, I actually think it would be really good fun now that I'm in the second series. It would be the most random, nobody-asked for-this, ranking but that's why it would be cool HA.
Anyway, Darren's enthusiasm for life, his optimistic energetic nature is so vivid in this first book. The contrast to his new life approaching is so striking. There was a point where Darren's corniness was reaching an all-time high but then the story snaps back and the plot begins moving swiftly.
I forgot all about snake-boy, I think he becomes good friends with Darren for a time early on. I forgot how much Mr. Tiny was involved in this since the beginning.
I forget just how much time passes in these books, this story is just so beautiful, the anticipation of knowing what happens next is exciting. The tragic ending of this series makes everything more bittersweet, but it's nice to realize Darren did have a lot of good times even though his life drastically changes so quickly. I underestimated just how many events happen in this series. This series' style is just so distinct to me. It really spans a good amount of life...
I forgot just how obvious it is that Steve is an intense, angry guy. The tension after Steve questions why Darren bailed that night after the Cirque DunFreak was surprising.
These chapters, 10-17, are arguably the most iconic of the whole series, as most starts to epic series tend to be. The Cirque Du Freak show was very cool, and the dominos of this story really start tipping...
Steve is considered evil upon Mr. Crepsley's tasting and banishes Steve from joining the Vampires. Sheesh. The whole approach this series takes towards Steve is so fascinating. He's maybe one of the more interesting villains of my Big Three villains, well Voldemort might have something to say HA.
But yeah I mean, since this is a re-read I'm just having really excellent fun. Getting to blog about my feelings through it is pretty cool too.
