Avengers: Endgame (2019) review/thoughts

Well, wow I watched the Avengers finale (as of now I guess) and man, it was pretty good. I maybe expected more, but I have no MAJOR complaints. I, as I would assume with most viewers, always expect there to be a mind-blowing finale and there was. But I can't help but feel a little let down, it was maybe a bit anti-climactic? I could be nit-picking though. It was a good movie.

I creatively respect that people did truly pass away and they didn't just like save everyone and everything went perfectly back to normal. That would have been super eye roll worthy, but indeed the consequences remain as they do in real life. They do mostly save the day, but life is lost and there are many different consequences, probably too much to list in one post.

The double-edged sword in these movies I believe is at times the fact that there are like a million cool powerful characters fighting at once, being together at once. The cool part is rather obvious. The fight scenes are cool, at times the interactions are cool etc. It is cool in a lot of ways. On the other hand, sometimes it's just too much. Too much sugar on a cookie. Too much heroin, too many hard drugs, you die. There was kind of too many awesome characters that it felt like an overload to where I was just like disappointed maybe. Some characters I like more than others, I feel like should play a bigger role than others. It's interesting.

A good thing they did in this Avengers film, and maybe they should have always done, is they made this movie pretty long. Three hours long. Which helped me feel the characters in the moments better. They should have always made these movies long. To fit epic characters and ideally epic storylines with the Avengers, they should have made the movies longer to tell stories better, have the characters develop more. But it overall was an improvement in my opinion, of course.

It was great to see Ant-Man be in this movie for a pretty significant role. I don't know why, but Ant-Man is cool to me and has a lot of potential in my opinion.

Time Travel, pretty sweet

I probably should have, but I really didn't see time travel coming in this one. While nothing can be perfect, they did a solid fun job of using time travel in this movie. Time travel can sometimes be used poorly, but it was fun in this one. Time travel is a basic but effective and cool way to tie loose ends and have things come full circle.

When they went back in time to save the stones, it was definitely trippy. 2012 and on it was just nostalgic. Watching past movies I haven't seen, remembering where I was in life when these films came out, just a lot of memories.

In the end their time travel capabilities save the day and they defeat Thanos.

It was very cool that Tony Stark/Iron Man had a child, it was sweet to see. I was a teenager when his first movie came out, and he was indeed the leader so it was sad to see him go. Damn.

More bittersweetness was Captain America's storyline. I always liked Cap man. It's been so long since I watched his movies. I can't help but love his ending, a lot. He went back in time, found the girl he loved from his past normal life, and lived the happy peaceful life with her that he always deserved before his life went crazy. Seeing him just slow dancing with her to the old time music and living in his nice normal house made me really happy. I think that's what a lot of us want. A happy normal peaceful life.

Seeing Cap as an old, content man giving Falcon his shield, man that was wholesome as fuck.

It was sad to see Black Widow go to I guess although I never really cared much for her good or bad, she was always kind of just there. She was an OG though so yeah a little sad. I'll watch her movie for sure.

The finale fight was great. Great to see Black Panther, Spidey, the Guardians and others help save the universe.

I did not like Spiderman's first film, like I really didn't. BUT I like Spiderman as a character. I'm holding out hope his films improve, because Marvel Films did set him up to be a bigger character in my opinion. He's a young kid from 2016-present and throughout a lot of this batch/era of Marvel characters. He had a close relationship with Tony Stark. If they play it right, he could be an OG big role going forward as he gets older and likely stronger. He would have an immense backstory being affiliated in the OG era with Iron Man and Captain America.

That was a little rant but yeah, I hope the Spidey films get better.

This film was exciting. Good action as always. I felt the characters emotions more than in the other films. Many stories ended, loose ends were tied, while leaving a lot of intrigue in regards to other characters and what their future holds.

Seeing Hulk be almost giving off Bruce Wayne vibes, is pretty hilarious and cool.

I'm glad Tony's child lived throughout the Time Travel shenanigans. I was worried he would have to lose her as a result of the Time Travel.

Captain Marvel is absolutely a democrat, and well it's cringey and gross to me. 'There are other wars throughout the galaxy blah blah blah...." Give me a break woman. She did like nothing to help, I thought she was like a God? I'm glad she didn't steal the other more important Avengers' thunder. That would have ruined this movie completely.

Once and for all I really did like this movie. The time travel and them facing a real actually scary boss, was cool. The time travel element also always leaves room for potential comebacks....

But yes no movie is really going to be perfect, considering the task Marvel Films took in trying to make 47 different superheroes work in a film, it was pretty enjoyable.

I liked both Infinity War and this one, together.

8.5/10? I haven't really been rating most of these films, but there it is LOL. 9 felt a bit too strong.

There's my thoughts. Onto Spiderman: Far From Home. My fingers are crossed this one is a lot better than the first, if not I will be ready to ROAST lol.
