A Half Decade using Hive, About 19% of My Life

avatar

I grew up reading books and magazines and watching sports and TV in general. As a kid I wanted to be a sportscaster, a photographer, and the next J.K. Rowling LOL. I kinda still do as a grown up.

As a younger adult I wanted to figure out a way to make money writing. I was determined. One day five years ago I found Hive (back when it went by a different name) and never really looked back.

I am pretty much still as excited about Hive as I was five years ago, and I am forever confused as to why it isn't much more popular. I figure at least Reddit and Twitter folk would love it over here.

It's funny how people seem weirded out about the thought of making money by using social media. But the same people will buy Netflix memberships to worship random people pretending to be other people (acting). These actors then go on to become so rich us common folk can't even imagine. This same idea goes for musicians, artists, podcasters, even politicians and some scientists.

Most people tend to agree that the news nowadays is corrupted and misleading, but yet CNN and Fox news people are stupid rich much of the time. Same very much goes for sports news as well.

Perhaps some of these people should get some cheddar since they get 'views' and 'eyeballs' and to that I say, fair enough. I can't control what people choose to consume.

Despite the lack of attention myself and other small bloggers get, I think it's fair to say there is some love to go around. If Stephen A. Smith, Brian Steltzer and others can become insanely rich for simply talking, why can't I make a few cents on a couple of my blog posts? Why can't like, everyone?

Writing and news in general are becoming more and more digital, so what tangible product do these people have to sell exactly?

People say crypto is not physically real, meanwhile most people use debit and credit cards nowadays.

On that same note, the US dollar feels less and less valuable, just like bitcoin. So that sacred dollar is falling just as bad right now.

Seems like a bunch of sweet talk and illusions. Magic, if you ask me.

I use Hive on two accounts, this one and @adhammer. I keep it simple on Hive. Daily blog/rambles, Actifit, sports stuff. I am not claiming to be some epic awesomely talented blogger. But I put forth fair effort and consistency and often write about what I'm passionate about so hopefully in doing so the quality of the writing is decent, at least sometimes.

Most people consume social media or some other type of content. Quality content, inspirational content, and relatable content is absolutely an opinion.

Hive has the potential to re-calibrate our idea of what news and entertainment is.

Also, it's fun LOL.

Besides the writing, there's tons of ways to invest and mine and try to make money.

Hive may face doubt and critique, and it is indeed not perfect. But all the while, I will still probably be here in five more years, and a full decade in total. Hive on folks.
