Good Day HIVEANS,

Given what we now know about Web 3 social media platforms, wouldn't it be amazing if we could simply go back in time and scoop up all the HIVE before it blew up? Or better yet go back to the beginning steem pre-mine days & scoop up all the STEEM before it became free hardfork HIVE? Unfortunately, that's not a possibility, & this post isn't about cracking the space-time continuum, time travel, or anything like that, but what it is about it might shock you nonetheless. O.K. I'll Spit it out already...Drumroll please...Snipverse.com is here, it's really cool, & it's the latest addition to the Blockchain Social Media superstar family gaining popularity! Snipverse is powered by the Proton Blockchain, Proton (XPR) to be precise, & I’m posting here today to share what I've learned from my very first experience interacting with it on snipverse.com.

What I like about Snipverse Social!

Snipverse has an amazing-looking #instagram-esque "look and feel" to the interface that lives up to the status quo of what any real social media platform should offer. The intuitive & familiar design of the platform reveals a great first impression, complemented by an abundance of options like creating stories with videos, commenting with preloaded gifs, and even allowing the use of your built-in microphone to make it a one-stop social media shop on the blockchain! I noticed this mic feature being used a lot by @ackza, I never noticed until now how much he sounds a lot like @theycallmedan! lol.

Snipverse uses sound light and fury to create a universe for the social media aficionado.

One unique way Snipverse puts sound to work for you on the website is the ability to hear real-time sound notifications when someone interacts with your content. When the traffic starts heating up on your profile sometimes you can even hear the sounds of footsteps shuffling down an empty corridor. The use of sound on Snipverse is subtle, but it adds depth to the site by utilizing a dimension of sound I never really noticed before on a blockchain social media platform. It's the little things that count, and a bunch of little things like this become magnified to help supercharge engagement within the network.

There is so much to do on snipverse.com, such as creating group chats, staking for membership levels, creating projects, participating in the nft marketplace, defi lending / borrowing, dex trading, and probably so much more that I left out. To top it all off there is even a built-in live crypto ticker scrolling across the bottom of the site.

How do you get some SNIPS to start with?

Surely the best way to get snips would be to sign up and post about Snipverse on hive and get @ackza to send you 10,000 - 100,000 SNIPS for free. However, if you would like to get much more than that to stake and become a pro user and earn more, then the best way is to buy them on the Proton Dex with Proton (XPR).

But wait, before you can do that you must get XPR to swap to SNIPCOINS (SNIPS), and for that I recommend Kucoin. Once you have some crypto on Kucoin.com, you can easily convert to XPR and transfer it to your proton wallet / WebAuth account. The first thing you'll notice when you set up your Proton wallet is you can register a human-readable username, just like Hive. For simplicity's sake, I chose coininstant to be my proton wallet address, so to transfer XPR over to my proton wallet I simply send it from Kucoin on the Proton Network to my Proton account named coininstant, no memo is required! Sending Proton is fast and free too. Kucoin does charge a 10 XPR fee however, but that's nothing compared to a hefty btc or eth fee, yuck... lol It was only about a minute or so until I noticed the XPR sitting in my proton wallet, mainly waiting on Kucoin to transfer, however, once the XPR is in your wallet you can now use it to swap for snips in the Protondex.

Here's a little picture of what trading on the dex looks like. Getting set up is simple, I began on my phone by downloading WebAuth Proton Wallet for free onto my iphone. The app had the typical crypto setup with a standard 12 word key phrase. Once set up you can use the app to scan a qr code to quickly log in on the Snipverse website and dex.

The only thing that I was uneasy about was the fact that in order to swap on the dex you will have to set up KYC with a third-party verification service. I don't usually ever do any KYC, but I don't have anything to hide so I decided to get all set up, and it wasn't that bad.

The whole verification process was instant, I became verified and was able to use the proton swap within minutes of submitting my credentials. The main thing is that the entire process worked seamlessly, unlike many other crypto verification sites that leave you hanging and talking with support for days.

One tip, if you're taking a picture of your id to verify, hold your phone close and as still as you can, and don't take the pic in the direct sunlight. My verification failed twice until I got out of the blazing bright sun and braced my hand on a counter while taking the pic.

Once you've verified, all the functionality listed above will be right at your fingertips, & everything on Snipverse and Proton can be done under the security & convenience of one simple WebAuth QR code scan login right from the homepage. Sometimes I wish Hive Keychain had this easy setup and login method, something about scanning QR codes and crypto seems to work well together.

Upvotes can be made with a varying array of emojis which is a must in this day and age, especially among the younger crowd!

My first reaction to Snipverse is that it’s a lot better than I expected, & surprisingly it already has way more quality features than Hive, which does say a lot considering the time HIVE has been around. That's a major reason why I think buying XPR and SNIPS right now could be like traveling back in time, especially at the cost of snips, which at the time of this writing is super cheap at about 13 Million for 150 bucks!

One way that the Snipverse is similar to HIVE is that you can stake your SNIPS, at an astounding APR of 10%.

If SNIPS ever get up to the price of HIVE or even BLURT we could all be Snipverse Whales in the future for next to nothing!

HIVE and Snipverse - the Tortis and the Hare?

Although Snipverse already has a lot of functionality that HIVE doesn't yet, it still has a lot of open space ahead to conquer to really compete with HIVE. One major area the Snipverse needs to work on is getting more market liquidity, which proves to be a real advantage to Hive blog users. More users, liquidity, and a larger market cap are areas the Snipverse has to conquer, but nothing more time will heal with more exchanges, listings, & product adoption.

Hopefully, this post will reach the eyes of some hive devs, and they will open their eyes to the competition, and maybe even bring some of these good ideas back to the HIVE. It may not be such a bad idea for HIVE users and Snipverse users to comingle, heck we both have a lot in common anyway with our love for crypto. Building a following on Snipverse is just another way to promote HIVE.

I think Snipverse may be a good investment into the future of blockchain social media technology, especially for all the value that Snipverses offers now, especially at an all-time low.
