The Network Effect Is In Full Bloom On LBRY
I've been thinking about Lbry.tv a lot lately since I began to hear news of the 3speak airdrop.
While I'm not a video content creator, I am a consumer. I've been logging in daily to Lbry.tv to collect free tokens for what seems like forever and just recently began to sell them on bittrex. (so I could by Leo)
Honestly, it's been a "nothing" platfrom from a content standpoint for me. I just logged in and clicked the first video to collect some free coin.
But I remember seeing an interesting article on Techcrunch in December and realized that this thing had legs. And, some marketing behind it!
One of the cool new features is a Youtube Channel sync allowing all your youtube videos to move over to the platform with one click. And low and behold, youtubers are coming over.
One of the most influential is Salty Cracker who is a nutbag (but funny) who has almost 600K youtube subscribers. While you can find any type of content there, (even porn) it is a great landing spot for people worried about being banned from other platforms. Even Donald Trump has an account there (even though it's most likely fake) so any idiot can post.
The growth over the last month or so since the twitter purge has been rapid and the network effect is clearly at work. Check out LbryNomics to see the top channels
The token itself is seeing a resurgance and following nicely with the market. It has a bullish trend (although down today) but usually ranges between $.07 and $.15. I expect growth over the next year not because of technicals but because more people are finding out about it.
I think the whole thing bodes well for @3speak and other like platforms but lbry.tv seems to have a nice head start.
I've noticed some Hive and LeoFinance posts, but not many. There is a nice opening for your content if you produce Hive/Leo content. You may as well join and drop your videos there because I believe the site has plenty of crypto fans there.

Nice read. Thanks for the heads up on Lbry. It keeps getting on and off my radar.
Even though I was a filmmaker in a pretty recent past ( when I was already into crypto ), I never thought of putting my video content on Lbry. Even after reading this, I do not necessarily feel like doing so, as I'm active with other stuff and felt I mainly want to use Lbry to check out other people's content / to learn and to start stacking some coins.
Now you've awoken a renewed interest in me to go hang out there a little more.
Let's see if I can make it ( more of a ) habit.

I agree that extra tokens are nice but I usually stay somewhere for the content and the people. Up till now, I didn't find much of that on Lbry. It's a totally different story with Hive though ;>)

I've heard about this one but I haven't really started looking into it because I don't believe that it is linked in with this blockchain here and is a standalone currency.
Interesting idea but we will see and I'm just going to keep my eye open for a more stable blockchain internet way to share my videos.

It's definitely it's own deal but it's a good one. It's been around and isn't going anywhere and has marketing. It's a solid bet. I'm not investing, just taking their token. I think I've earned $103 so far.

how do you accumulate that much when all you get is like 0.5 Tokens per day? I have seen some small challenges with rewards but you said yourself its pretty much only the daily view.

They used to give more for the daily check in. But I got 5 the other day. Just gotta stay consistent. I'm kind of made I sold it all lol

I've been using lbry for quite some time. It's a great alternative especially when 3speak is down like it was this morning. I also login once a day to get the daily lbc but I also get some income from the videos. It's a nice side income for us from Hive I believe. The great thing is that with lbc you can actually add stake to your videos and make them go to the top in searches on lbry.

How are you making income from your videos. It's so hard to figure out. I know you can stake your own lbc towards your own video but not sure how that earns you more tokens. I also know people can tip or "support" your videos. I also don't know if I can earn from supporting someones video with my lbc. It kind of hard to find all of that info on the site.

The only way to make money from my videos is when people are watching them. For each view, I get a tip. I don't know exactly if every view is taken into account or only the ones from registered users. The more views a video gets, the more tips I recieve. The tips are actually paid by the system. If you support your videos, they get higher up in the search engine and you get more views and therefore more tips. If you support somebody elses' video you can't earn with it. It's quite tricky to understand how everything works on lbry :-)
i've been thinking about starting a video thing - but kind of need to overcome the situation i'm in at the moment.
it is one of the top things on my 'future tripping' todo list.
