Beginnings - Repost

At first they were just two,
Too plain and crude to rule
Just 2 simple minded fools
On freedom's pursuit,
Willing to recruit
Those who wished
To follow suit,

Misconstrued and misunderstood,

They'd never set out to wake up the masses,
Unmask the corrupt or become another facet,
But it must come with the territory...
Before long their ideals were under threat
Marked and prone to a siege

But their fire never extinguished,
Their charm was magnetic
And their resolve was in itself
An accolade,

They had made sure the foundation they laid
Was a safe haven for those they now lead

But with peace comes new conflicts
And sure enough, it came from within,
Spread like a virus before looked into,

The system was outdated itching for a reboot,
Scratch that! Everything would be undone,
0 to 100 just as it had all begun
0 to 100 They demanded a new number 1

Once a shade for the bunch,
branch by branch
She was getting disarmed,
The same bridges she'd rebuilt
And fences she helped mend
Were up in arms against
Her command,

Outnumbered with no where to run
She was done! Done and ready to join
Her out of misery right hand

Clearly seeing the writing on the wall,
She stood heartbroken by the sight
Of her cruel yet blossomed pupils,

With no spite she was ready for her fall,
Only longing for her humble beginnings,

Next time,..

She would just follow her dreams,
Roam the World a free soul
Only beholden to her own volition...

If only that didn't go against her instincts,
If only instincts weren't what matured her from her beginnings...

This is a repost. I had originally made for the Poetrydice that was run by @rensoul17. It was one of if not the first contest I ever entered on steem, and definitely still one of my favorites even now. Sadly, I don't think they happen anymore, life I guess. Anyways, here's the original post by yours truly, @ange.nkuru.

PEACE!!

This is a lovely poem and I am glad you shared it on PYPT! I can easily see at least three different interpretations of this, and like the universal nature of the words you chose! Bravo!
