Titans sign high level OLB Bud Dupree!

I'm three-four days late on this, but I'm not a reporter I'm a blogger!

As a matter of fact there are a lot of Titans signings I'm late on blogging about. I'll hopefully get there soon.

But THIS bit of Titans news is something I really had to express my excitement about!

Last season, the Titans absolutely had a difficult time getting any type of pressure on the quarterback. I have pretty much been preaching about how bad the Titans defense has been overall, not just up front. So really most positions could be upgraded if I'm being absolutely honest.

Perhaps I'm being a little mean, but I want the Titans to become champions and the defense was simply not championship level, not very close honestly.

So, among some other really solid moves that I'd like to hopefully blog about in the future, perhaps the very best move was the Titans signing former Steelers defensive edge player, Bud Dupree!

Man this is awesome! :)

Bud Dupree has been playing some great OLB/DE since 2015 when he was a first round draft pick of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He has been a critical piece of that Pittsburgh defense that has been so dominant in recent years. He really was one of their core guys.

The Titans sign Dupree on a FIVE year deal worth up to $85M, with $35M guaranteed. I love the fact that he's on the team for hopefully five years! There is some speculation regarding just how good Dupree is, better or worse than his production displayed so far throughout his career. Did T.J. Watt and Bud help each other confuse and frustrate defenses, did one of the players help more? Bud Dupree is also coming off an ACL tear from last season, which also can bring up a plethora of questions.

Honestly though, it's hard to argue Dupree isn't a really solid player with good talent. High quality starter to have on the roster. Proven, well rounded body. Especially considering the fact that the Titans seriously need any high quality help they can get.

Bud Dupree is just a fast nasty dude that likes to ball. Versatile. Likes to tackle and disrupt. The Steelers are going to miss this guy.

Bud Dupree, to match up with the players the Titans do have, It will hopefully be a very exciting marriage. Jeffery Simmons and newly acquired DT Denico Autry (I plan on writing about him) in the middle, Bud Dupree and Harold Landry on the ends. I mean that's hopefully a potent mixture.

Bud Dupree claims to have been a real fan of the Titans growing up, and that's pretty sweet too!

In six seasons with the Steelers, Bud Dupree appeared in 81 games, starting 66.

Throughout his career Bud Dupree accomplished the following stats:

  • 39.5 sacks
  • 54 tackles for loss
  • 231 total combined tackles
  • 8 forced fumbles
  • 3 fumble recoveries
  • 1 interception

As a Titans fan I welcome those stats with open arms!

I really believe the Titans got themselves a high level, well rounded player just entering his peak prime. He JUST turned 28 and the Titans have him on a contract for the next five seasons!

Here's a nice video of Bud going to work:

A clutch and extremely needed piece to the Titans, welcome to Nashville Bud!
