The Titans supply the roster with 5 new players!

Similar to the last post I created about the team re-signing Titans, the Titans have been making several solid but not-so-flashy acquisitions recently. Overall, Titans GM Jon Robinson has been pretty good at identifying talent over the past handful of seasons. He's been a good GM as far as I can tell, obviously not perfect, but good. I like to assume that he's getting quality players on the cheap. From my own research these players seem pretty quality, especially considering a large portion of these players will likely be back-up/rotational/special teams type of players.

But it's always intriguing to see where players like these end up on the roster. Some of these guys could really be gems in the rough for all I know. Some of these players could see a lot of playing time. It all depends on a lot of factors. Their improvements in the off-season, the coaches evaluation, team competition. I'm curious and hopeful about these players. These players are valuable because DEPTH is everything. Injuries are always going to be in football, so every man on the roster must have talent.

In no particular, here are some of the players the Titans have acquired.

WR Marcus Johnson (Colts)

Right off the bat, one of the more intriguing acquisitions by the Titans I would say would be WR Marcus Johnson from the Indianapolis Colts.

Thanks to A.J. Brown, I have been way more intrigued and excited about receivers than I honestly ever was before. I don't at all wish to say or suggest that Marcus will be anything as good as A.J., although that would be amazing. I'm really just saying that I now understand how valuable receivers are to a team, and with the Titans losing some good pass catchers this past off-season, it's great to see the team address that area of need.

Marcus Johnson will really add some much needed talent in the wide receivers room.

He honestly has had more game experience than I initially assumed. He's even a Super Bowl Champion from when he was on the Eagles roster in 2017. That's definitely a positive in my opinion too. He has competed and practiced with a Super Bowl Champion roster. That is great career experience, and an accomplishment.

In four seasons in his career (1 in PHI, 3 in IND) Johnson has appeared in 34 games, while starting 9. So far in his career, Johnson has accomplished the following:

  • 42 receptions
  • 679 receiving yards
  • 3 receiving touchdowns

Here's a nice Youtube clip of Marcus Johnson:

Welcome to the Titans, Marcus. I hope you can help contribute to the team in a positive way!

OT Kandall Lamm (Browns)

The Titans right tackle position has been kind of a mess lately. The team had a legit right tackle in Jack Conklin for several seasons. When Conklin was on the field, he was definitely high level. But even when Conklin was on the roster, he was injured somewhat often. Last season, the Titans lost Conklin in free agency.

So, in the 2020 NFL Draft the Titans picked RT Isaiah Wilson out of Georgia in the first round of the draft. Wilson turned out to be nothing more than a headache unfortunately. He apparently is dealing with mental health problems. His social media is just a cringe-fest much of the time. He wants to be a rapper I think? He was arrested the other day. I'm not really trying to roast the guy, but man it's depressing that the team's first round pick went down the drain so fast. Obviously you pray for the kid that he gets his stuff together, but yeah that's the story explained briefly and basically.

So, along with re-signing OT Ty Sambrailo, the Titans have signed experienced and versatile tackle Kendall Lamm.

This is a nice signing considering everything I had previously explained. The team absolutely needs capable bodies at the tackle position. Kendall Lamm provides just that. He is a solid player.

Kendall Lamm has played in the NFL for six seasons. He played with the Texans for four years, and then the Browns for two. He has appeared in 74 games and started 27 of them. In 2018 with the Texans he started a career-high 13 games at right tackle which is cool to see. He also has displayed the ability to play both right AND left tackle positions. That versatility is really good to see.

Overall I really like this signing. The Titans have two pretty trustworthy options at tackle on the roster already in David Quessenberry and Ty Sambrailo, both players did have some good snaps with the Titans last year. But when you add another very experienced and still in his prime player like Kendall Lamm, that depth is really really good.

I really believe that that right tackle position is in good hand with the three players the Titans will have. I'm intrigued to see who starts and how the coaches evaluate the players in training camp.

DEPTH BABY. Welcome to Tennessee Kendall, I hope you can help bring this team to the next level!

OLB Ola Adeniyi (Steelers)

There is not that much to say honestly about Ola Adeniyi. He has been in the league for three seasons and he has had some injuries in his career. The Steelers mostly used Ola as a special teams player where he played well.

Ola has recorded the following career stats in three seasons:

  • 25 combined tackles (16 solo)
  • 3 forced fubles
  • 1 tackle for loss

The Titans need edge and special teams help, so signing this youthful player is great. Ola is only 23, he turns 24 in September.

Another positive aspect of Ola's signing is the fact that the Pittsburgh Steelers have been historically pretty dang good at finding defensive talent. So I'm hopeful that Ola is another gritty and intelligent player that you often will find in Pittsburgh.

Ola appears to have a good attitude and a big smile, and those type of positive vibes are great for a team!

Welcome to the team Ola!

LS Morgan Cox (Ravens)

I don't believe I've written about a long-snapper acquisition before, but it is a very important position. Every position on a football team is crucial. Messing up long snaps is virtually always a disaster. Having consistency and reliability at that position is a MUST.

Also, this particular long-snapper is actually pretty elite. Morgan Cox is a four-time Pro Bowler and a one time All-Pro. That type of talent is not something you pass up!!

The Titans got a good one man!

Morgan Cox is actually from Tennessee and he seems happy about being a Titan. Positive vibes baby!

S Matthias Farley (Jets)

The Titans lost safety Kenny Vaccaro, and cornerbacks Malcolm Butler and Adoree Jackson. All starting caliber players. So supplying the team with a capable secondary player is pretty great and necessary.

Matthias is a pretty mysterious player, I had never heard of him until this news broke.

Matthias Farley has had an up and down career throughout his five year career that has seen him play on two teams. The Colts for 3 and the Jets for 2.

Matthias has been mainly a backup safety so far, but he does have one season where he played a lot. In 2017 he was a main starting safety for the Colts due to an injury. In that season he appeared in all sixteen games while starting fifteen. That is awesome to see that we picked up a player with solid game experience. Farley also has plenty of special teams experience.

In five years as a pro, Farley has appeared in 66 games, while starting 18. In that time, Farley has recorded the following stats:

  • 158 combined tackles (97 solo)
  • 3 interceptions
  • 4 tackles for loss
  • 2 forced fumbles
  • 1 fumble recovery

This looks like a great pickup for the Titans. An experienced veteran to help with some competition and depth!

Welcome Matthias!

These are some great pickups. A WR, an OT, an OLB, a LS, and a safety. A well rounded pickup!

What do you think of these signings by the Titans?

I like these pickups for sure! All needed and all seem like solid players!

LET'S GO TITANUP!!!
