I could taste the victory yesterday, I really could. The Phillies really fought all game long. But the Cubs are simply on fire right now, while the Phillies are cold as ice.

It was really a somewhat strange game. Cristopher Sánchez, who is one of the team's more reliable, trustworthy pitchers struggled while the offense sorta kinda woke up for once. Funny how life works huh?

Cristopher Sánchez lasted 5 1/3 innings, allowing six runs on twelve hits. Meanwhile the Phillies actually managed to put up seven runs by the end of the game. The Phillies even managed to fight back from a 6-2 deficit.

The game almost had all the ingredients for a win, but the Phils pitching and hitting ultimately couldn't compliment one another quite enough. The Cubs would end up walking it off in the tenth inning. Thank goodness that was the last time the Phillies have to play the Cubs this regualar season.

In some positive news, Brandon Marsh continues to play really well! He hit two homers yesterday and went 3 for 4! He now has 4 homers on the year. His highest home run total in a season is 16. It would be really cool if he could hit 20+ this year! I think he has the power to do so. Marsh is still only 28. I feel like he's still got good potential and a pretty bright future. He seems primed to have a career year, it just stinks the team isn't winning at the moment. He currently has a betting average of .300 and an OPS of .829 and has driven in 14 runs.

But yeah tonight the Phillies face the Braves yet again. The Phillies only have eight wins and the Braves only have eight losses. Ugh.

Maybe whenever the Phillies get out of this slump, we'll come to realize the Cubs and Braves are about to be the best teams in baseball and this awful losing streak will make slightly more sense.

Andrew Painter takes the mound today for the Phils. Hopefully the rookie can help the Phillies avoid double digit losses in a row and get a win over the Braves who are seemingly running away with the NL East already.

It will feel like the Phillies won the World Series if they were to win today LOL. Let's go!
