Phillies lose a competitive game 5-4 @ Padres yesterday, look to avoid a sweep this afternoon

Welp, the Padres have proven to be a pretty challenging opponent for the Phils as after last night's loss they officially lost the series. Indeed they have struggled big time out west this past week. The Giants and Padres have gotten the better of the Phils now.

Zack Wheeler couldn't replicate his Reds performance against the Padres, as he struggled to get through six innings, allowing four runs. Not horrible at all, he gave the squad a chance to win but it just wasn't as sharp as we're used to. The Padres are just scrappy.

The Phillies are practically fifty-nine percent of the way done with their season and as I write this they are behind the Mets by a half game and own the second Wild Card spot. This win tonight would be really clutch to keep a healthy enough pace in both areas.

Yep, as I mentioned yesterday, this afternoon is their last game before the All-Star break, they won't be playing again until July 18th when the Angels come to town. A win would avoid a sweep, and give the team at least a bit of good vibes over the next week. Would stink to get swept right before the All-Star break.

Hope the team is locked in! The season is getting more serious with each passing day!
