Phillies get shutout in Cleveland last night | Suarez gets his second start tonight

Yesterday's game was an absolute snoozefest. The Phillies offense couldn't produce a single run despite six hits. The Guardians scored six runs on nine hits, only three more hits than the Phils. So the Phils offense wasn't horrible overall, they were just horribly un-clutch. The Phils were due for a bad performance offensively I suppose, the five games prior to yesterday the Phillies scored an average of eight runs a game.

It's unfortunate timing for Aaron Nola that the Phillies offense fell asleep. I'd say Nola still pitched pretty bad even if the Phillies gave him zero help. Nola wasn't totally uncompetitive or incompetent yesterday but at the end of the day he's now 1-6 with an ERA very close to 5. The man is on pace to lose a lot of games, it will be interesting to continue to see how he fights through this. It would be pretty cool to see him turn this around massively.

Ranger Suarez gets his second start tonight, it is crucial that he shows signs of improvement too as he didn't end 2024 too sharply and his first start was straight up bad.

Let's see the offense get it together and Ranger pick this up!
