Phillies get a gritty win over the Marlins yesterday, look to win series tonight!
The Phils won a very competitive game last night in Miami and it was a nice sight to see. Ranger Suárez continues to look excellent which is also great to see! He didn't end last year very strong, and I was a bit worried about how he'd do in 2025, but he's tossing my doubts out the window with each superb start. He got through seven strong innings of work, allowing just a single run and striking out eight batters. He snagged his 600th strikeout last night as well. After last night Ranger is 6-1 with a 2.20 ERA. He's been a huge anchor for this Phillies pitching staff!
Bryson Stott homered for the first time in a while, and in general his bat has been pretty quiet. That was nice to see! It was a much needed three-run shot in a game the Phils won 4-2. Brandon Marsh extended his hit streak to nine games.

The Marlins came to play though, and were in it until the very end. The Marlins had two men on with two outs in the bottom of the ninth, but Nick Castellanos made a really nice catch along the wall to seal the game. If that ball hadn't been snagged, the game would have gotten tied up!
Close doesn't count though, and the Phils got it done!
The Phillies are only a singular game behind the Mets for first place in the NL East at the moment of writing this. A massive series with the Mets begins tomorrow, so things are definitely heating up!
Sánchez on the hill tonight! Can't worry about the Mets yet, this game counts just the same! The Marlins have been really scrappy so gotta live in the moment a bit here.
