Phillies fail to sweep Rockies yesterday | Phils out in San Fran tonight

It's been a somewhat long day, but thank God I get the privilege to wind down and watch both the Sixers and Phillies on this fine April evening. April is a much better month for sports than I realized.

The Phillies fell to the Rockies yesterday and while Taijuan Walker wasn't sharp he actually wasn't horrendous by any means. He gave the Phillies a reasonable chance to win the game. Ideally he should be better as he gave up four runs in five innings of work, but the bullpen came in and shut the Rockies out the rest of the way. The problem yesterday was the Phillies only scored a single run.

The offense for the Phillies is still absolutely on notice here. They have scored three runs these past two games. Sure they scored sixteen runs combined on Wednesday and Friday but the vibes aren't too hot still. On Wednesday, until the Phillies got going late, they were looking rough on offense. Friday was obviously outstanding and I have little to complain about in that game, but their runs came essentially in just the first inning. This isn't exactly screaming consistency. Besides those two games the offense has scored five or less in each contest, only scoring five once by the way.

Baseball is hard of course and pitchers throw heat these days but meh, I hope they start showing more consistency still.

But still they did win the series! They have rookie Andrew Painter on the mound tonight to make his second career start which should be fun, hopefully. A lot of pros can make a single good start. Let's see how he performs over a span of time! J.T. Realmuto says Painter literally game-plans and watches film on batters which I find to be an excellent trait. Everyone in the big leagues is athletic and has talent, you've got to be a student of the game to be elite! Of course Painter has not yet earned the term 'elite' in regards to his career, but it's a sign! We shall see in time.

I highly enjoy late night baseball. Being on the east coast, these west coast contests don't end till after midnight much of the time. As a night owl, it's just fun.

The Giants are a solid organization, should be a fun one!
