Julianna Peña UFC Panini Prizm Card 2021

These cards and posts help me get a way better understanding of the UFC roster, and really a better knowledge of the history of the young sport in general. Hopefully anyone that happens to read or even skim this can learn a little too.

I did not know much about Julianna Peña before this, but now I know a bit more. Peña is a respectable, well rounded MMA fighter. She competes in the Women's Bantamweight division of the UFC. She has won six of her last eight fights. Her only two losses were to pretty elite, championship level fighters in Valentina Shevchenko and Germaine de Randamie.

Julianna Peña holds wins over some notable opponents like:

  • Jessica Eye
  • Cat Zingano
  • Sara McMann

Overall Peña isn't the most active fighter ever. She seems to be pretty good to be on the roster for so long though. She fights like once a year, so she is around. Peña sits ranked #5 in the Bantamweight division, while it's not exactly known to be the deepest division, it's still pretty impressive to be so highly ranked.

At only 32 years old she still has a lot of fight left in her. She is absolutely in the mix for title contention, overall. It's not exactly going to be easy for her with a savage female GOAT in Amanda Nunes as champion. Julianna is a skilled athlete and it's nice to own the card.

As a matter of fact, Pena is set to fight Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes at UFC 269 for the Women's Bantamweight UFC Championship on December 11, 2021 in Paradise, Nevada at the T-Mobile Arena. If Peña can pull off the MMA upset of the decade, then this card could be legendary to own. Either way it's not bad that she's fighting for a title, still pretty cool.
