José Alvarado SUSPENDED 80 games + disqualified from playoffs due to PEDs | Mick Abel makes MLB Debut for Phils today looking for sweep
So I was rolling along doing a lot of other preparing for blogs on my laptop, but then my power goes out! Lame.
Then I discover that reliever/closing pitcher for the Phillies, José Alvarado, has been suspended 80 games AND disqualified from the playoffs due to testing positive for PEDs!! Also lame!!
This is a pretty big hit for the Phillies, Alvarado has been a massively relied upon bullpen arm for nearly five years. He throws absolute gas and replacing a guy like that is going to be challenging. I definitely expect the Phillies will likely sign someone at some point in the near future. I'm sure I'll have more to say about Alvarado as things progress. This is breaking news as of now.
But yeah, yesterday the Phillies got the job done with ease, a clean 5-2 victory. Wheeler was his reliable self and Bryson Stott had himself a nice night going 2 for 5, with a homer and three RBIs.
Along with the Phillies dealing with this Alvarado news, the Phils are sending out Mick Abel to make his starting pitching debut against Pirates star pitcher Paul Skenes as the Phillies look to sweep the Pirates. Pretty wild day overall for a day in May for the Phillies. Wow.
Hopefully I get to keep track of this game as long as my battery allows. Hope my power is restored soon! Power or no power it's still....
Uff...Sad...very, very sad...
This guy is a great relief pitcher..!
Yes this is very unfortunate!! I was shocked! He can come back in August at least and hopefully still help the Phillies.
