A's tie up series with win over Royals last night! | Jeffrey Springs on the mound to help hopefully win the series this afternoon
Yesterday went pretty perfectly for the A's. Just like Jesús Luzardo for the Phillies on Tuesday, Luis Severino got through seven innings for the A's yesterday as well. Severino only allowed one run and struck out eight. Considering the A's used five guys out of the bullpen Tuesday, Severino's lengthy outing was ideal. The A's used just two picthers out of the bullpen yesterday, Mark Leiter Jr. was only used for 1/3 innings.
Offensively the A's had a quality night. As a team they totaled ten hits. Lawrence Butler hit a crucial three-run homer in the fourth that sort of ended the game in a way as Luis Severino was dealing! It was good for the struggling Butler no doubt, it was his third homer of the season. Carlos Cortes, Jacob Wilson, and Jeff McNeil all went 2 for 3 and all reached base three times with an additional walk! Nick Kurtz extends his walk streak to eighteen games. Brent Rooker remains pretty cold since returning from injury recently.
The A's can now go ahead and try to win this series this afternoon and hopefully improve to 17-14. Jeffrey Springs is on the mound today to try and win his fourth game of the season. The weather in West Sacramento looks excellent, nice and clear in the mid 70's to low 80's.
April continues to be insanely busy from a sports perspective. As busy as life gets I'll try to stay on top of everything the best I can!
