A's drop series opener vs White Sox | Luis Severino on the mound for game two

Yeah well, it might be too early for yesterday's game to be considered a 'trap' game and I don't know if the A's are proven enough to even participate in a 'trap' game yet. Nevertheless I did somewhat hope that the A's would be able to get a sweep over the White Sox... Well those hopes were dashed quickly.

The White Sox won 9-2 and while that is a dominant win, it sort of even felt a little worse as the White Sox piled on 15 hits and walked 4 times and Sam Antonacci was hit by a pitch. So that's 20 White Sox baserunners. Munetaka Murakami also hit a grand slam. Yikes. That's not typically a recipe for success unless it's a pretty crazy back and forth game.

The A's on the other hand only managed 4 hits and 4 walks. Ugh. It is pretty irrelevant but Nick Kurtz did have a tremendous at bat as he fouled off a bunch of pitches. The at-bat was something like 14 pitches and he finally won the battle as managed to smack a nice single for an RBI in the end which was cool to watch. I like Kurtz!

The A's can still win the series though so it's just time to flush yesterday's game and lock in. Luis Severino is a solid veteran pitcher and so hopefully he can handle this younger White Sox lineup.

I've officially watched the A's rotation in full since covering the A's and they seem fairly solid overall. Better than the Phillies rotation at the moment! The Phillies are a hot mess too....more on them later.

For now...
