76ers lose two straight vs Knicks and Hornets | Bucks visit Philly tonight
Saturday was a bit disappointing for the Sixers as despite the Big Three playing, they couldn't quite get it done vs the Knicks. They were in it until the very end thanks to some last minute fouls by the Knicks but ultimately they failed to execute when it mattered most down the stretch. Jalen Brunson basically straight up outperformed Tyrese Maxey, and Landry Shamet was pretty clutch as well for the Knicks. Joel Embiid was really good though as he dropped 38. Joel has played in 25 games this season so far which is 55% of possible games. He's already played in more games this season than he did last season when he played 19, and he's on pace to play more games than he did the year prior when he played 39. He's averaging 25.1 points and 7.4 rebounds a game this season. With Tyrese averaging nearly 30 a game, it's fun to imagine what this team could look like if Embiid could actually play more frequently.
Yesterday was another loss but this was an entirely different type of loss. The Sixers got absolutely dismantled by the Hornets. Embiid and George did not play but SHEESH that's no excuse to get beat THAT bad. The Sixers lost 130-93 and were down by as much as 50. Tyrese Maxey scored 6 points. 6 points. What. The whole team was frankly absolutely pathetic. 3/11 Sixers scored in double figures and not a soul hit 20 points. Nuts. Meanwhile 8 Hornets scored in double figures and Brandon Miller dropped 30.
It's safe to say all Sixers fans would like to delete that memory. The Sixers cling to the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference but only by a thread.
Tonight the struggling Bucks come to town. Hopefully the Sixers can just chalk up a W as the Bucks will be without Giannis Antetokounmpo who still wants to be traded I think? I am surprised it hasn't happened by now honestly.
George is playing tonight while Embiid seems 50/50.
This Sixers team is still young and always dealing with the stars coming in and out of the lineup so I am not utterly shocked at these recent struggles but it would be nice to figure out some better consistency somehow. Let's hope this master plan of waiting for the playoffs works out. I dunno.
But I'm ready for some basketball!

I remember a time when losing to the Hornets was basically the worst thing that you could possibly do as an NBA team. I'm a Carolina Panther fan but pay so little attention to their NBA team that I was unaware that they changed the name back from Bobcats. I suppose that was a New Orleans team sale problem that got resolved when they decided to go for a much tougher sounding animal like a Pelican.
Yeah that was a tough game vs the Hornets but the Hornets are fairly decent too. Yeah those franchises were a bit confusing for a few years there haha
