76ers lose third straight vs Hawks Thursday, they desperately seek victory in New Orleans tonight
The Sixers looked better on Thursday but they still couldn't get it done. It was a competitive, strange sort of game because the Sixers were in striking range to take the lead for a long period of time, but the Hawks did a good job at keeping them at bay. The Sixers are now 0-3 vs the Hawks this season and have officially lost the season series vs them. This could potentially come back to bite them if they both finish with the same record which is certainly possible as the Sixers are now 30-25 and the Hawks are 27-31.
Tonight the Sixers will be down south in New Orleans to face the 15-42 Pelicans and so they MUST find a way to win even without Joel Embiid who hasn't seen in action in two calendar weeks. The All-Star break was in between this time period but I was actually anticipating that break would have helped, not hurt, Embiid's chances at playing more down the stretch. He's now dealing with calf soreness in addition to his knee issues.
The Sixers need to just stop viewing Embiid as a franchise player and just try to win. Pray that he can be healthy for the playoffs and go from there.
I like big men Andre Drummond and Adem Bona for the most part and hopefully they can produce a little better.
Tyrese Maxey needs to have a big game soon and also, Quentin Grimes needs to do something. I am almost starting to wonder if the Sixers should have kept Jared McCain especially considering Paul George is also out...
Well, let's see what happens I guess. I just want the guys to chalk up a W by any means!!!
